I'm not a professional artist, but I still wanted this mainly to help me not waste so much paper while I do rough "sketches" of things. I make church banners and used to have to drag out paper and colored pencils when I wanted to play with designs. This not only wasted paper, but time. I tried my husbands Bamboo, but it would not work well with my Mac (he has a PC). So I'd have to use his computer with Bamboo but still found that I could not draw all that well. Husband suggested the Bamboo's screen was too small. Anyway, we bought this Vistablet and it installed easy enough. Had to go immediately and get a new driver off their website, so it would work properly with my Mac. I also found I could not have my mouse plugged in at the same time as the Vistablet. I thought I could keep them both plugged in and simply switch back and forth as need be. Nope. I have to have only one plugged in at a time or the Vistablet does not work properly.
All I can say is that for my needs this thing is GREAT. It has saved me so much time and paper. I can "sketch" till my heart's content without guilt of wasting paper. Using my Mac's Paintbrush program I can try different colors and it only takes a second.
It works so well that often I just leave it plugged in round the clock, and use it for my mouse as well. The buttons actually are useful. I can tap a folder on my screen and then click the button at the top to open it.
It has worked flawlessly for me, and I can only say I wish that were true of every item I buy! I would recommend this certainly for at home use. I can't say how it would work for a professional artist, but for my humble needs in making and designing church banners it's GREAT.
