Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Phonex PX-211D Wireless Web Jack System

Customer Review: Totally satisfied
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this item to work with my TIVO unit via DirecTV. It was recommended by DirecTV as completely compatible, and it is. This is the only way to use your DVR when there is no telephone jack in the room where the TIVO unit is to be used, unless you want to run telephone wire and a install a jack (which I did not want to do)

Very easy to set-up, install and use, and it works perfectly and flawlessly as described. Your DVR must be hooked up to a phone line 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and it must make periodic phone calls to collect data and/or information. In fact, TIVO service will discontinue to operate correctly if a phone line is not connected after 30 days of interrupted connectivity. It will shut down completely and you will lose all ability to record, schedule, purchase, download, etc.....

The fact that DirecTV recommended this particular model, make and type convinced me to buy it. According to DirecTV, it must be described as a wireless jack for a modem.

Customer Review: Phones Wireless Phone Jack
Summary: 5 Stars

We use this for our Fax machine as we don't have a phone jack near the fax machine. It does work well as instructed.
We had a similar GE product, which stopped working after about 2 years. We had a small surge protector plugged into the outlet next to it and am wondering if that may have caused the deterioration of the GE model. We have removed the surge protector in the other outlet, as this present company suggested to do that in their instructions. These products are very sensitive to lightning, which we get a lot of in Southwest Florida, so I try to unplug it whenever there is lightning.
Too bad they don't make this product for the 4 in one copy, fax, scan, print machines. They have wireless printers, but they can't be used for faxing without connecting to a phone line. I would hope that would be the next new product coming out in the future.

Customer Review: Great for Satellite Plug-in.
Summary: 5 Stars

This does exactly what I wanted it to do: Allow me to plug in my satellite receiver where there was no phone jack. I have about a 30-foot jump across the room and it is making the connection. When I tested for a dial-tone, though, there was a bit of static on the line so using this as an actual "phone" jack, it did not have a good enough connection for me. It may have had a clearer signal had it not had to jump so far. It is, however, accomplishing the task perfectly of allowing me to eliminate the monthly charge associsated with my satellite service if the receiver wasn't connected to a phone-jack. Data transmission (ordering movies, etc.) is fine. I'd recommend for that purpose. If, however, you need a phone in a room, it may not be the best if you have a larger room.

Customer Review: Works Perfectly
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed to be able to connect a Dish satellite receiver to a phone line in a downstairs recreation room to avoid the monthly $5 charge Dish assesses if the receiver is not connected to a phone line. We do not have a phone line jack handy to the receiver's location. The local Dish dealer installed the same Phonex wireless web jack upstairs in the kitchen to resolve the same problem. It worked well in the kitchen, so I ordered the same jack for the downstairs receiver. I installed it in a couple of minutes, and it worked immediately. This month my Dish bill was $5 less. Dish somehow knows if a receiver is connected to a phone line without calling or e-mailing them. If you have this particular problem, this phone jack works flawlessly.

Customer Review: Easy Installation
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this wireless web jack specifically to connect to our Dish HD Receiver after reading other reviews. The receiver has to be connected to a phone jack for a number of reasons. One of which is that you save a $5 / month charge. The installation was as easy as plugging the components into electricaL outlets and connecting cables. It passed my first two tests. I called my home telephone number and it popped up on the TV screen so I know it receives calls. I could view my statement from the the customer support feature so I know it dials out.
Since I do not use it for connecting a telephone, I do not know if that would work or what sound quality it would have.
