Customer Review: Not Mac Friendly

I purchased the Magic Jack , recieved it rather quickly, very impressed. However found that you must have a PC to download the Mac Beta software program from the Web site to the Magic Jack. Upon doing so we have yet to have this product work on our (Intel Based Mac Mini), you must have a Intel Based Mac according to the Tech Support we spoke with. I do and still no success with this product. They told me to wait 48 hours and they would have someone get back with me with further support before returning the product. it has been 72 Hours and counting and I am still waiting for a resolve to my issue with this product. The individual attempting to assist us from the web site kept repeating herself as to what type of computers we had and asking the same questions over and over again, for one hour. I believe this product is not Mac friendly. If you own a Intel Based Mac be very hesitatant before purchasing this product, and personnally you need to be quite Computer Savey as well. This product is not one your Grand Mother can hook up if she has a Mac.Customer Review: Don't Get Jacked!!!!

I got this thing about two months ago, and as soon as I attached it to my two-year-old Compaq computer, the computer started to freezing. A computer tech took a look at the computer and said that it had a motherboard about to go out, so I bought a new one (not from the tech). Once again, the computer started freezing when the magic jack was attached (and, by the way, the computer has to be up and running or the magic jack phone is inoperable). I upgraded memory, video card, etc., and still freezing. So, I finally decided to disconnect the magic jack, and voila, no more freezing. Magic jack will not replace or refund, and tech support is wothless. So after weeks of trouble, expense, lost time, and frustration, the jack is junked. Don't take a chance on this solid piece of crap. No amount of money saved can make dealing with this junk or the people behind it (if you can find any real people there) worth it. This is not worth the money. I have had one problem after another and I have had it for approximately 3 months. I can't always hear people, people's voices break up when they are talking, it doesn't always ring like it supposed to, the voicemail doesn't always work, and just recently people have gotten a message saying the "number is disconnected" when they call. It is not a problem with the phone I am using either, because the phone worked fine when I was not using it with MJ. Also, don't let thecute add with the little girl and the puppy dogs lead you to believe that is some family company who cares about customers - the customer service is obviously outsourced, it's really hard to get a hold of anyone, and they don't know what the problem once you finally get a hold of someone. Actually using this product for about 2 months was impressive. The problem NOW is that technical support at Magicjack is broken and won't respond to anything. The website just keeps you in an endless look of doing what doesn't work.
The memory on the device fails regularly requiring the drive it creates on your computer to be disk checked with repair to get it working again. So you lose your phone numbers and history when that happens. You can't get Tech support to help because the tech support part of their website won't work like it used to.
Either they are trying to fix their tech support or they are having so many problems with hardware quality issues that they are over whelmed.

Tried this item for a couple of months on my Mac. Didn't live up to the hype:
1. Poor audio quality.
2. Continuous connection problems.
3. Help is online and very poor.
4. Ultimately would not work at all with no recourse through online help.
Dealing with this outfit is worse than dealing with a used car dealer. Didn't ask for my money back just that they close the account so that no future unauthorized charges could be made (like for long distance and such). "No can do," they said. Who ever heard of an account that couldn't be closed?
Went back to regular phone service with no regrets. There's little magic in the magicjack.
