I like to have very good music and news in my bedroom. I used to have a Bose alarm clock which worked well for almost five years. It was replaced by a Polk i-Sonic, but it was a total deception. Two devices broken in a six months period and a very poor design, for more than [...] bucks!. After this bad experience, I decided to go to a more "modest" model and chose the iHome H9. But, I have to say that I am gratefully surprised with the quality and rich sound of this alarm clock radio. It has all the functionality and options you can desire in this kind of systems. Very easy to operate, particularly in the darkness. Enough number of memory presets. Perfectly coupled with my iPod Touch. Of course, it has not the sonic ambience of Bose, but it has a decent sound proper to enjoy music in your bedroom. The H9 is not in any case a "modest" model. I'm impressed with the iHome. I had heard it before when my former roomie had one and decided I wanted one for Christmas. It has lived up to my expectation and exceeded it. The unit and remote are of good quality materials, the sound quality is impressive for such a small and affordable item, and the alarm features are neat. I like the option to have a M-F alarm and a weekend alarm setting. The adjustable brightness for the display is great too, and easy to adjust. I really like how the beeping alarm function starts out slow and progresses, so you don't have to be assaulted first thing unless you need it! Which often I do. ;) I have it across the room, as I always do with alarm clocks, so I have to be careful to keep the remote in a drawer by my bed so it's still difficult to hit sleep (which you can do from the remote!). I just purchased my iHome IH9 and I adore it.
It's easy to set up, and the instructions are clear and concise.
I have a small apartment and the speakers are wonderful with exceptionally clear sound. I absolutely LOVE the remote, too.
As others have mentioned, the FM reception on this isn't as great as typical radio alarm clocks, but I certainly don't miss it. I love that I can fall asleep to my music and wake up to it too. The buzzer on the alarm is really annoying, so I created a playlist immediately after the first morning.

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter to use with her 4th generation Nano. Fit perfectly with the provided insert. She loves all the features it offers - especailly the remote. She mostly uses it to listen to music in her room, and, oh yeah it functions as an alarm to wake her for school. I LOVE the 5 day alarm setting - I don't have to wake in a panic on Friday nights "Did I turn off her alarm?" The display does seem bright - not sure if she has played with the brightness settings. It seems like it would give you a tan in your sleep but I'm fussy about light when I sleep. I read all reviews for alarm clock radios that play/charge iPod Nano 4G. This one just seems to do it all. I tried 2 different ipod alarm clocks that were cheaper before I bought this one on amazon. It's worth the extra money. The dimmer is a plus; it has 7 different dim settings including off. The AM receiver looks a little awkward, but if you don't listen to AM radio you don't have to hook it up. The speakers sound great and when the alarm goes off it doesn't go from super quiet to insanely loud in 15 seconds like the other ones I had. It gradually gets louder, but never so loud that it's unbearable. You can set it for a five day alarm, which is nice for work vs. weekends. This was a wise purchase and worth the money.
