Customer Review: perfect wake-up radio
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of those unique products made by people who really listen to their customers, and create just what we want (reminds me of Apple).

I replaced my Bose bedside radio (great sound, but no iPod base) with the iHome iH9, and am delighted in every way. The iHome wakes me to my choice of music every morning (and with the shuffle option, it's different music each morning). Having two alarms means i don't have to re-set it each morning for my wife. Using the sleep mode that drops volume over the selected time means i can go to sleep and not worry about running my iPod battery down (which is always charged thanks to the iHome).

The very adjustable light and large numbers means i can see the time easily, wherever i put the radio. The remote is easy to use, and has buttons in the right place so i don't need to turn a light on to use it. The sound (while not quite as stellar as the Bose) is still very good. And the FM radio gets clear signals from the stations i want.

Overall, an excellent design that does everything i want from a bedside radio and yet is easy to operate all functions. Elegant, intuitive, and a perfect match for the iPod.

Customer Review: Very nice iPod alarm clock.

I've been using the iH9 for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Other than the obvious iPod compatibility, the things I particularly like are the separate volume level for Sleep mode and the ability to customize the length of Snooze. I also like using the dial to adjust the alarm time -- much easier to use than other mechanisms (other than digital entry).

I haven't used the Radio portion other than just to test the antenna placement (reception wasn't great, but acceptable).

There is support for using a custom iHome playlist for alarms, but I have not yet built such a playlist and have just been using the regular "iPod" setting that uses all music.

As with most such devices, connecting an iPhone without switching to "Airplane" mode will result in speaker buzz whenever the iPhone checks email receives a call or anything like that -- even if you aren't using the radio. My wife used to have the same problem when setting her non-iPhone GSM phone near her non-iHome clock/radio. I'm often amazed by how much interference these GSM phones generate in speaker systems and am glad my CDMA phone has no such problem.

Customer Review: I LUV this product!!

I really love my new iHome9. It has great sound, great sound options, and a very easy to use remote and clock. When I got my iHome, the time was a few minutes off of my other electronics, and it was very easy to reset. you click a total of two buttons. Plus, my remote works pretty well from across my large room, where my computer is. It says in the instructions not to use the iHome9 without an insert, but my iPod (nano, 2nd generation) doesn't fit any of the inserts, so I just use it without one. So far, I haven't had any problems with it. I really like this, and I would definetly advise you to buy one. Many of the other reviews say that their FM reception was bad, but mine is great. Maybe it's because I'm at the top of my house, but I get great reception on FM radio. I haven't tried AM radio, because I don't listen to it at all, but it comes with a 'special' AM reciever. All in all, I really like my iHome9, and I haven't spotted any problems with it yet. Hope this was helpful!

Customer Review: very well designed tool
Summary: 5 Stars

A hundred dollars is a lot of money for an alarm clock, yet this one is well worth it. It's features and design are impeccable in my opinion. Switching between modes and settings is a breeze and you have full access to your ipod at any point. A remote control is a nice addition too, although I don't find myself using it much. The alarm mode lets you play songs out of a custom playlist or just pull from your total library. And, if you get tired of your ipod songs just switch to a radio station for a while - this works well for me. Aside from the sound needing a little more bass (hey, its not a home audio system, don't fool yourself) I don't have any complains about the accoustics. It even has a surrond-sound-like feature that separates different frequencies pretty nicely and compensates for the close proximity of the speakers to one another. Overall this is a great little tool that will become your friend if you are a slow waker and like a little music in bed before you hit the shower.

Customer Review: iHome8
Summary: 5 Stars

The ihome is a great alram clock/ipod player. The FM radio reception is good, and the AM signal is decent. The display can be dimmed and shut off......super plus at night. The alarm clock saves three alarms, which can be set to go off in three different intervals (5day,2day, and once). There is no need to shut off and reset the alarm every 24hrs, since the ihome allows you to shut off the alarm and walk away. So on Saturday morning, i do not have to turn the alarm off since it goes off M-F only.
The sound is good with the ipod, and with the radio its better than most but its radio there is always going to be static. The controller works good, but very hard to navigate the ipod since the screen is small. The controller is good for volume and track changing, and snooze. Beware, other controllers can set your alarm on or off, and change the display brightness. I have my unit on top of my Direct tv box, so there is remote signals being shot at it daily. Good deal.
