Please be sure to read the instructions. To switch between stylus, pencil, red or black ink, you must lay the pen horizontally. Push the button whyle the sign of the stylus is up - and woala - it works like a charm. When I first got it, I also tried the 'four - way push' method, but as it was not reliable I read the instructions !
