I bought one of these for my Nikon D70 DSLR, which uses Compact Flash cards. Seems the card of choice these days is SDHC, and as I have several other gadgets that use the SD format, I tried this card to see if it would work with my D70. It sure would be nice if I can get to a single format flash card for all of my toys.
I have to say the SDHC adapter works very well. I tested the compatibility by using a SanDisk Ultra II SDHC card in the adapter, then put the camera on rapid frame shooting mode. Of course, the camera does have a small high-speed built-in memory, which is good about for 10 rapid shots before the camera slows down to write to the card. So I have to take maybe 20 ~ 30 rapid photos to judge the performance.
As expected, after about 12~15 shots, the frame speed slowed down significantly as the on-camera buffer filled up. But, it does this with the Compact Flash as well. I was happy to find that there was little difference in performance between a SanDisk Ultra II in either Compact Flash format or SDHC with the CF adapter.
The audio system in my vehicle (2009 Nissan Maxima) also utilizes a Compact Flash card for music, and I not only was able to use a SDHC with this adapter, but incredibly, I plugged a Micro SD card into a SD adapter, and then plugged it into the CF adapter - and it worked.
I have a Compact Flash card slot in my RayMarine C-80 display unit on my boat - but I have not yet tried the CF adapter in that device, but I will next boating season. All hope is that it will work. But if not, I have a couple of spare CF cards now.
