Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Zune Premium Headphones for Zune 4GB, 8GB, 30GB, 80GBCustomer Review: Exactly what i wanted: Cost effective Summary: 5 Stars
Microsoft did an excellent job with these. Overall 5/5 due to their being used as advertised and providing an excellent product with good variation in sound.
Pros:
-Can hear all undertones in music to a good degree
-Once PROPERLY placed in ear, they stay
-Can only hear music / internal sounds, does very well in noise canceling feature
-Bass and Treble balanced
-Long cord so you can use your device in various ways
-Cord is quality and wrapped in a rough coating to prevent fraying
Cons:
-Sweat interferes with quality
-Need a bit of personal use to get used to
Summary:
If you are a standard user that listens to music ona frequent but not obsessive basis, these are definitely going to impress you. The headphones come with several sizes in ear comfort enabling you to choose your own size and not be hampered by painful far-too-big ear buds.
The sound quality is excellent and cancells everything out except your own foot steps and possibly (mentioned in other reviews) the cord rubbing on items. My question here is why not just wrap the cord around so it fits tighter? The product is designed to leave the user the widest possible customization and freedom. For those that give this a -1 star for your own lack of creativity, shame on you.
The two cons are if you are a frequent runner. First off, sweat will inevitably make one ear more clear than the other, inhibiting a good listening experience. The switch-off here is all you have to do is get adequately sweaty and the seal on both ears is equal and then sound quality returns.
If you are used to NON-SOUND CANCELING headphones you will have to get used to these as they do not let other sounds in. If you are used to the background noise of air and other non seal-able ear buds, you will hear a significant difference and will most likely have to wear these a few times to really be able to appreciate them.
Customer Review: On my second pair... Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second pair of Zune Premium v2 earbuds I have owned. The first pair was identical, except after about a year of heavy use and abuse (especially at the gym) they finally broke. For more than a year they were pulled on, yanked from, thrown, mashed together in between books and laptop, you name it. There was once an accident involving the cord and a treadmill. Yes, it hurt, but the zune and the earbuds survived - my pride on the other hand...you have no idea how funny it must have looked. The sound quality is very good. After the first pair broke I bought a pair of Bose IE2 audio earbuds that cost over $100.00 at Best Buy and the sound quality was so bad and they weren't even as comfortable. They always felt like they were going to fall out, weren't noise canceling, etc. I hated them. They were bad for the price, without a doubt. I expected so much more. I returned them and bought a pair of Sony earbuds that were 1/3 the price and almost as good as the zune earbuds in terms of sound quality, but the difference was still noticeable. They were good enough for me, so I was happy. However, after two months they broke. I gave up and ordered another pair of zune earbuds. I'm wearing them right now as a matter of fact.
I knew I would order another pair of zune headphones when they broke. I've tried others and always compare them to the zune and so far none have been better. They sound good, are comfortable, and are very durable. It's very important that they're durable. I have a hectic schedule and lifestyle, and I'm a little clumsy and sometimes even careless, so my gadgets have to be strong.
The cord is nice, but the magnets are such a great convenience. Kudos to the guy that thought that up!
Customer Review: Nothing but love Summary: 5 Stars
Got my first pair back when the Zune 80 first came out and loved them. I noticed the same thing everyone else did in that the material the cord is made of rubs against your clothes and creates noise in the earpiece. After about a year of use the left bud went silent and I was in desperate need of a new set so I went around town and bought 2 new pairs, one was a Sony set and the other were Shure. Without going into much detail as to why I was unhappy with those buds I finally went back and dropped another 40$ on the Zune premium plugs again and haven't looked back.
I have had this second pair for over a year now and I have to say I don't plan on changing anytime soon. The sound quality is perfect for my tastes, I have a running partner and when she tries to get my attention I have to pull out a plug to understand a word she is saying, total sound isolation. The initial annoyance of the chord rubbing goes away, whether from simply forgetting its there or the texture on the chord wearing down. I have also gotten in the habit of simply dropping the cord down my back under my shirt/jacket so the fabric won't scratch the cord.
Don't buy the hype of all these $100+ earbuds, this is the best quality bud I have used out of the 4-5 I have owned. If you want to spend 100 or more on the best headphones you can buy go with over ear sets... If you want to have the best discreet and casual headphones go with these.
Customer Review: Best portable device headphones available. Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I have owned these Zune V2 headphones for over two years now on a Zune 120GB device; I am on my 2nd pair currently though. Portable headphones from any manufacturer do wear out with daily rugged use, as I give mine. The magnetic connector for them is just great, you know, the headphones are not dangling independently of each other all over the place. The speakers in them are excellent, they sound very good and the cord is made of tangle resistant woven material, and I have never had any problem with interference by it (the cord) hitting any objects, including metal. In fact, I read the review here that someone got interference with a shovel banging into them, but I tried hitting them (the cords) and everything else that I could think of, they never sounded better even as I was trying to distort the sound any way that I could. Even when I get an IPhone or any other portable device that will require headphones, I plan on using these. They may be a little expensive but they are totally worth it, you will never go back to 'other' portable headphones again, the noise reduction is standard for in-the-ear headphones also, meaning good. By the way, the great magnets and super sounding speakers are a little big, compared to `other' cheaper lower-end portable headphones out here, but I will never go to anything else than this type of headphones.
Customer Review: very very good headphones (3 years experience with them!!) Summary: 5 Stars
so i have to start off by saying i got these headphones originally with my zune 80. what you get with them is the head phones and a few different size ear inserts (im not sure what they are called). i always use the smallest size and they are very very comfortable! with these head phones on i do not need to turn the volume all the way up to hear the music, on my computer the volume is usually 1/5 of the total loudness and on my zune its usually at about 9 and when i'm riding my bike its at 13. this is out of a 20 btw. i had my first pair of these for about 7 months, when all of a sudden the left one stopped working, if i held it at a certain angle it would work again, but eventually neither of them worked, i dont know why, but they just broke. i loved these head phones so much that i had to buy another pair. and i've had these same head phones for about 2 years now with out a problem. i also consider these noise canceling, because i literally can't hear the outside world with these on. and its not even all the way turned up.i am a little disappointed that the price for these headphones went up (i got them for $30) but they are still worth it. if your wondering how they compare to ipod head phones, these blow them out of the park. ipod headphones are uncomfortable and dont cancel any noise. get these, trust me!
i hope this helped.
