I purchased the 8gb zune and think its great. I purchased another one for my 21yr old daughter. She likes this better than the ipod because it is so much easier to download music and we can have two different zune playlist on the same computer with is not something that is easily done with the ipod. We used the zune pass included and then continued to pay the monthly fee of $15 to use their unlimited downloads. This is the best service and we can use this service for both of us.
The sound is good. The zune is easy to use and i had no problem downloading the software. The speed of downloading is good and i also use it for my audiobooks and it stays at the place where i left off. I have tried to use so many other mp3 players for audiobooks and have had trouble. The zune also has a radio with is nice. I have yet to find fault with this player or the zune marketplace.

Quick and simple - the Zune 8 GB player is amazing and trouble-free. I understand there were rough spots with the earlier software etc but Zune 3.0 is clean, easy to fire up and has a wonderful interface. My son bought this with collected holiday money (lucky guy) and couldn't be more pleased. I'm jealous of course - he (13 yr old) figured out the software quickly and is delighted with all the features. (While I sit over at my computer trying to get media to sync correctly with my other-brand player...)
My son made his own choice after comparing with the Nano 8 GB and the similar Sansa and Sony products, and I think he made the right call. Music & video quality are wonderful and all the on-screen tools easy to manage. Battery life seems very good. I would recommend getting a hard shell/case for the device just as with all these smaller players.

Don't listen to the Apple fan boys who rate this product one star. I have personally owned every iteration of the Ipod and EVERY single one of them was crap. They all crashed non stop and were constantly trying to erase my music library. I own the flash drive version (this one) and my son owns the hard drive version and we have had NO FAILURE. Is the Zune software the prettiest thing Microsoft has ever created? Far from it. But as far as aesthetics goes, Itunes is the worst looking software I have ever seen. The latest version of the Zune software is much better. Creating playlists is a snap and moving music to and FROM the Zune is much easier than the Ipod. Hands down, the Zune is a much better music and video player. The icing on the cake? The Amazon MP3 store. Unprotected music, baby. 16gb flash Zune and Amazon MP3 store. Being a solid state memory device, this is perfect for running or biking (not that you're supposed to, but who cares about one ear...)
I have this and use it predominately for listening to music while running or listening to audiobooks while biking to and from work. Amazing product, couldn't ask for more. Oh, I converted from Nano to 30GB Zune, then to this, and now I have a 120GB Gears of War Special Edition Zune. With my girlfriend having one, that totals out at 5 Zunes, and 2 MyVu video glasses. In case you're wondering, I kinda hot tubbed my 30GB so it doesn't work as well anymore, my Nano has been gone for about 4 years, I use my 8GB for running and biking, and my 120 GB for auto and travel (movies with the MyVu video glasses).

Customer Review: Zune in, iPods out!

I really like my Zune. I use to have an iPod mini and eh, there was nothing special about it except the cost! I've come to realize that if you don't want to pay for just a name, pass on the iPod. The Zune I got has the most vibrant screen I've ever seen on an MP3 player, it does everything an iPod does but at half the cost, and it's much easier to use then the iPod. I've had my Zune for about 2 weeks now and so far so good, it seems to do well against drops and scratches. And the first time I hooked it to my computer and downloaded about 600 song to it, it took only 5 or 6 minutes.
Bottom line: It's of better quality and price then an iPhone. It sounds awesome and it plays forever before needing a charge again.
