Customer Review: Zune, for some its life
Summary: 5 Stars

So i have had my zune for 8 months now and so far it has been amazing. I got the zune because i hate apple. I lost my $500 library from itunes twice and I didn't want to go through that again with downloading them. With zune I can upload songs onto the zune software from my zune and it takes like 3 minutes for about 900 songs.

Sound quality: The headphones that came with my zune were so good I don't want to replace them with anything. The sound quality of the zune is incredible. Very hgih quality, and it sounds like the band is standing in front of you.

Touch Pad: It takes some time to get use to but the touch pad is so much better than the scroll wheel of a pod. You have so much more control with the touch pad. Also the pad is a lot faster than the wheel.

Durability: I was mowing the lawn one day and my zune fell out of my pocket and got ran over by the back tire of my riding lawn mover(nowhere near the blades). I am still looking for a scratch/ding/battle scar from that incodent. The screen is made of glass and dosen't scratch. mine has been abused so many times and still looks like it came right from the factory.

Screen: The screen looks a little depressing, but it saves battery life and when its 2 in the mourning it dosen't kill your eyes.

Zune software: This is the best thing i have ever used. Love the interface, love zune pass. It is so easy to use and if you have a zune pass you can stream songs straight to your computer with out having to download them. Look up the details about it and you'll see how amazing it is.

Bottom line the zune is amazing. Almost perfect, i haven't found anything really wrong with it other than i wish the battery life would last longer. But i have that want with everything that has a battery in it.

Customer Review: Great music player
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned a number of iPods over the years including one of the latest ones. While I am not comparing the Zune to an iPod touch which has so many features and functions it almost is in another category, I will compare the Zune to either an iPod Nano or the iPod classic that is sold today. I can say that I love the Zune and think is a much better device for your buck.

The main advantages Zune has over the iPods are:
1) ZunePass - you can put as much music as you want on your Zune, including great recommendations from the Zune store for only $15 a month. For me this is a really great way to explore new music. I paid the same for Rhapsody for a long time but had now way of putting on my iPod. Also I believe you get to keep 10 songs a month - basically a free cd per month.
2)Zune has a radio - a very nice one which will tell you what song is playing and what station - iPod does not. This is a great feature in my opinion.
3) Zune has wireless capabilities and can sync your library through your home network. It can also trade songs to other Zune users.
4) It is as elegant as the iPod. Originally I thought I was going to have to take step down in terms of elegant design and interface from what I was used to in the iPod, but I am happy to say that MS did a great job at making the soon a beautiful device and very cool and trendy looking as well. Also, the Zune team did a great job integrating the software with the device and the service - not something Microsoft always gets right.

Overall, very satisfied so far and would recommend!

Customer Review: It's all about the music.....
Summary: 5 Stars

The Zune 8Gb is a good media player. Is it better that everything else out there? No, not that I've seen. Battery life is good (make sure you do about 5 or 6 full discharges and charges before passing judgment), interface is good, sound quality is good.....blah, blah blah, good, but nothing earth shattering. So why 5 stars? Because Zune Marketplace is the best thing to happen to music since the electric guitar. Seriously, for $15 a month I get 10 songs to keep and access to millions of songs. I can download as many damn songs as I want, the whole Stones catalog? You name it..... well, I've run into a few that are not available, I'd say less than 5% of what I looked up and it's usually something obscure that only the geekiest [...] reviewer would know. Heidi Spencer's two small time Milwaukee releases are on the Marketplace....and they're great too! And, Heidi, you owe me a double espresso. So, for a $5 a month premium over 10 songs on iTunes, you increase your music collection by a few hundred thousand titles (entire albums, if you're 35 or older, CDs if younger). If you love music, get a Zune, it's that simple. If you want apps and blah , blah ,blah buy an iPod Touch. However, MS is making a big mistake by discontinuing every player outside of the Zune HD. I'd never want to take an HD to the gym, it's too big and beautiful to get knocked around and soaked in sweat. This one is portable enough to carry around, stick in your waistband, and Griffen makes a great clear case that covers everything but the inputs and buttons to protect it.

Customer Review: Important to know!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are evaluating Zune models, only the capacity is readily compared. It can be challenging to find all the relevent info necessary to choose between available models. Here are three key facts one should know:

1. Only the Zune 8GB and Zune 80 GB are 2nd Generations models. The 4GB and 30GB models are 1st generation, but still quite good.

2. The Zune Home A/V Pack is an outstanding accessory that makes your Zune more useful - especially with the remote control. It's essentially a powered dock that charges your Zune and provides audio and video out cables to your TV and/or stereo system. The cables are standard composite a.k.a. "RCA jacks", the same red/white/yellow kind that come from a traditional VCR or video game.

3. When using the Home A/V dock, only the large capacity Zune models (30GB and 80GB) support the video output feature letting you view your Zune screen on your TV. Therefore, only the 80GB model has both the video output feature and the 2nd generation technology. Compared to the 30GB model, the 80GB Zune has significantly increased resolution which helps considerably when viewing digital pictures or videos.

All things considered, I recommend the 80GB Zune over the 8GB model. With 10 times the capacity plus the video output feature, it's well worth the price jump from $150 to $250. It really is cool to browse through hundreds of CDs with your remote and then play songs (or playlists) with the album art displayed on a big-screen TV with surround sound.

Customer Review: Zune Not As Good As Nano
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed an MP3 player to wear on my arm for bicycling and working out. I have a 1st gen Ipod that is huge and impractical. The technology has gotten so much better that the Zune 8GB is about 1/5 the size of my 10GB Ipod. And my Ipod doesn't play vids and has a black and white display.

I checked out what was out there in very small MP3/vid/FM stereo players I narrowed it down to the Zune, Ipod Nano and the Sansa View. I already had an Ipod and I wanted to try something new.

When opening the box you see the incredible cutting edge marketing that was involved in competing with Apple. So I was initially blown away by opening up the package.

But then I got into comparing some of the features and the Ipod Nano started looking better. I was like - where is the EQ on the Zune . . . there is none! The Nano has EQ and you can play TV shows and output to your TV with it. You have to watch all your video sideways on the Zune and then the controls work differently because it is on its side. Also, I went to buy and arm band for the Zune so I could ride bike and work out and there is nothing out there. And if you want peripherals and speakers and stuff, it seems like everything is made for the Nano.

And the software interface of Itunes is so much better than Zune.

So I took back the 8GB Zune and got the 8GB Nano.

Ignore the stars above I give it 3 stars.
