Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)

Customer Review: can't see any reason for anyone to complain
Summary: 5 Stars

I received my Zune yesterday and am impressed with it.

I bought the zune for a number of reasons. I have worked with iPods for years at an electronics store. I was the guy who unhappy customers came to, when their iPod were faulting up (which was very often). I spent hours reformatting and reinstalling the software, trying to get the iPod working again. Granted they were older generations, but I could just not bring myself to buy a iPod as I have no trust in them. Secondly the size of the storage and the large screen made it a easy choice as an alternative.

Features such as the sharing between other zunes and wireless syncing were definately not on my list of features, but are great and definitely something that should be bared in mind when comparing with the iPod range.

The user interface is a joy and I easily synced over 15000 songs straight away. The screen size is huge making viewing of video and pictures a lot more pleasant.

The only downside that I can see are that you are forced to use the Zune software. This is slightly annoying but will not negatively effect my review as for a iPod you are forced to use Apples own software. Would have been nice to use WMP however... not no great loss though. The software itself takes some getting used to, but I have had no reason to dislike the software. It does the job and much more, making browsing the marketplace very easy.

Customer Review: Compared side by side with Ipod Classic
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased both the Ipod Classic and the Zune 120GB and compared them, fully intending to return one of them which I have done. Sound quality was just about even to my amateur ears. The Ipod did seem to play a bit louder if needed. Although I do prefer Ipod's ability to be seen and used as a hard drive and it's compatibility with MediaMonkey, the Zune's screen size and ease of navigation won me over. Can't say I love the Zune software but I prefer it to iTunes because of iTunes continuously bogging down my computer. Yes, the iTunes store offers more but the social network and the Zune store is a decent alternative. Can't get over how much better the hardware part is over the Ipod though, especially the navigation. The click wheel on a hard drive player doesn't find what you want quickly at all when you have a lot of audiobooks/songs. Having quick access to all of your songs - this ends up being a lot more important on a hard drive player vs. a smaller capacity flash player. I find it interesting that if you read Amazon's Ipod Classic reviews, reviewers who purchase the Ipod rarely did a comparison with the Zune but if you read the Zune reviews, consumers did. You can call that Ipod brand loyalty to not even look at another player but it's simply allowing yourself to be uninformed. It's not like there are a lot of hard drive mp3 players out there to compare - 2, the Zune and the Ipod Classic. How hard is that?

Customer Review: Why the Zune isn't more popular is amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had several mp3 players and it's not even close, Zune wins by far. Just because something dominates the market share does not mean it's the best. If you compare the Ipod Classic to the Zune it's a joke. The Zune has so much more to offer. I did a ton of research before buying my Zune as I was very hesitant to buy one. I just couldn't believe that so many people could be wrong in choosing the Ipod over the Zune.

I finally made my first Zune purchase last July and it has gone well beyond my expectations. I use mine every single day, from audio books, podcasts, and music the thing is playing something every day. I've had zero problems. I've dropped it multiple times as well. This thing gets used and it keeps right on going.

Pro's - The ability to find new music. Zune Marketplace... only $15/month and you can keep 10 songs each month, wireless sync, the ability to swap music with a friend... you can only play the song 3 times which is plenty to decide if it's something you like or not. You can stop at McDonalds and connect to download music from the Marketplace or, what I'd use that for is to connect to sync up to channels I've subscribed to while traveling, another neat feature for finding new music.

Con's - Doesn't get very loud but then maybe I'm just going deaf. Does not have an Equalizer although the default settings are very decent.

Customer Review: Going to Zune120
Summary: 5 Stars

With all these excellent reviews, I'll go to Zune120. I purchased from Amazon Feb last year an 8GB Sansa View. Since that time, it has never ceased to give me problems - difficulty in connecting to my computers and lately freezing or rebooting itself. This Sunday, it just froze on the welcome screen and no amount of a 20-sec hold to reset/reboot or pushing buttons simultaneously, or leaving the battery to die would work. It's just plain dead and no sufficient Customer Support from Sansa/Sandisk. I had a little step forward though for Zune since my purchase of a 4GB Zune for my daughter this Christmas. Works great and she's so happy with it. I'll go Zune too and thanks to all of you!

I've purchased a red Zune120GB and it's awesome!!! Just like my daughter's 4GB Zune, this 120GB with lots of memory space, easily downloads music, photos, videos, podcasts and the large screen is such a perfect show. I velcroed it to my '07 Camry's front console, plugged the 3.5mm stereo adapter, plugged the power supply (free FM transmitter accessory with the 4GB Zune) and voila!!! Awesome product!

December 4, 2009:

My Zune 120 velcroed to my Camry still works perfect! Now I'm thinking about the HD version ... the 120GB though is surely a lot of memory space to work around ... superb!

Customer Review: Great for Car video
Summary: 5 Stars

When I park my car in my garage, my zune automatically syncs with my media center pc and downloads the TV shows I recorded, new music and pod-casts. I do nothing; all my new media is ready for me the next time I drive.

I have a car with a rear seat built-in DVD player with video input jacks. So anytime we go anywhere, the kids have all the new episodes of their shows.

The zune has wireless sync. If the zune is plugged into an external power source and sits idle for a minute it tries to wirelessly sync. Under battery power you have to initiate the wireless sync.

It's great. I do have an idea for improvement:
-a car docking station that supports video. The zune car pack is great for audio with it's built in FM transmitter. My set up right now is the zune lays on the backseat with the A/v cables coming out of top of the zune and the power cable coming out the bottom. it works, but could look better. Microsoft & 3rd party equipment manufacturers: I'd like car docking station that has the functionality of the home docking station (charging, rca a/v outputs & IR remote. I'd like the zune to be cleanly & securely mounted up front with me and let the kids in the backseat use the remote to watch their videos.
