Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Companion Piece Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the 30 GB Zune for a long trip out of the country as an alternative to the uber expensive Ipod with the same capacity. Previously owned an Ipod mini, liked it for the easy access to music but there were certain features (like not being able to shuffle on a playlist) that I didn't care for. Wanted something with a video capability but found that Ipod prices to be too high. In comparasion, the Zune was well priced and just as good. I loved it... and my mother (who is not technology savy) loved it so much that she basically stole it from me. That's when I went out got the 120 GB. It's even better now. The case is beautiful and slick though I do suggest that you get something to protect it if you are rough on your stuff like I am. The "wheel" is touch sensitive now so you can scroll faster. The wireless feature is great when I don't have a cable around and want to sync something at my parent's house. And having a FM turner is a bonus when you're at the gym and something on the overhead TV you want to tune into. (Which I didn't get with the old Ipod mini... though it is pretty old so I don't know if the new stuff has a tuner or not.) I don't mind the smudging on the screen, just wipe it with a piece of cotton or put a protective sheet on it. Except for the cases, all the accessories are are the same for all the Zunes which meakes me extremely happy. Having the huge capacity means I can put even more videos on it now though it eats the battery life faster; but I don't think 3+ hours is all that unreasonable. I've had the Zune for months now and would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, I think I'll upgrade my mother's for her. :)
Customer Review: Zune 120 GB Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE the Zune. So much better than any other MP3, even the ipod. First off i want to talk about the Zune Pass! The Zune Pass is $15 a month and you get Unlimited music downloads onto your Zune. With millions of songs on the Zune Marketplace you can go all out and take full advantage of the Zune Pass. The Zune pass is only for your Zune though, you can't transfer the songs to a CD or anything else. Only on your PC or Zune.
But the best thing about the Zune pass is you pay $15 a month and you get to keep 10 songs a month! So it's really like paying $5 a month for a Zune Pass and paying for 10 Songs! With iTunes you gotta pay for every song, 99 cents per song. Or buy a whole album. But it's so much better with the Zune. Apple is really greedy and would never even think about doing something like a ipod pass or nothing like it. Plus EVERYTHING for an ipod is more expensive than it should be.
You can get Zune Premium Ear buds for $40, and they sound extremely good. The ipod's In Ear Earphones is $79 for about the same quality as the Zune's.
Usually people who buy an ipod would rather use Limewire or bearshare to get there music. Which isn't the best way to get music because file sharing programs contain Viruses and the music quality isn't the best.
The reason is most people wouldn't want to buy every single song they want off of iTunes. I wouldn't either, but the Zune Pass is the best way to get music! $15 a month for Unlimited music, Virus free music, and the best sounding quality music you can get! Microsoft knows how to satisfy there customers, just like there XBOX/360.
Customer Review: My New Best Friend Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my Zune exactly a year now so I think I can give this an honest review. I bought the pink Zune 8G originally for my daughter and have been responsbile for all it's content as she's only 10. I liked the idea so much I bought a black 120G for myself. Because the 8G was so limited space wise we sold hers and bought her a red 120G just like mine. They are TERRIFIC. We have a Zune Pass so we have unlimited amounts of music we can listen to and have burned all our personal CDs to put in our collection. I purchased a software program to convert our DVD collection and have them on our Zunes as well (a lot of DVDs actually come with a digital copy for this purpose). We have also purchased additional Zune TV content through their Marketplace. We take them everywhere with us and I routinely fall asleep to my "relaxation" gentle rain music every night, my daughter falls asleep to "crickets and summer nights" My husband didn't initially want one but after using mine about a month he confessed he would like one and I bought him one for our anniversary and they are inseparable now so we each have our own Zune 120G. I have about 25 podcasts loaded that I listen to routinely (video and audio) and love having my music close at hand and being able to listen to something new with my Zune Pass. Overall, it's one of the single best purchases for my family I've ever made. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Also, the Zune Marketplace is great. I downloaded ITunes just to get a comparison and Zune is WAY easier to navigate. I know Apple sells way more Ipods but Zune has my vote, hands down.
Customer Review: Great MP3 player, loads of features Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Zune 120GB MP3 player about 2 months ago, from an amazon.com seller. This is my first mp3 player... I don't download mp3's but still use CD's and I always used Windows Media Player to put each album on my PC, so my library is over 230 albums now. All I had to do was download the zune software and it recognized every one of my albums. Plug the Zune in via the USB cable, choose what albums/artists/mp3's you want to transfer, and then you're done. You can even set up the wireless settings on the Zune and you don't even have to plug it into anything to sync up any new albums/mp3's that you've obtained since the last synch.
It comes with minimal accessories... just the usb cable to synch and charge and some normal ear-bud head phones, plus the manual.
The menus are intuitive, and the navigation is pretty easy. Before I purchased the unit, I didn't realize that the circular pad was also a touch-pad, so you can brush your finger in a direction and navigate that way. The games are nifty and in wireless mode you can actually browse and purchase mp3s if you have an account set up. You can share mp3's with friends and even play games against them. The screen is bright and colors are vivid. You can synch photos and videos to show to people or to watch movies when traveling.
Overall it's a pretty good MP3 player. 230+ albums only take up about 12gigs so I've still got another 108GB to put movies or what have you onto the Zune. Seems a little pricey still, but I guess that's the going rate.
Customer Review: Well worth the 215 I paid for it at Walmart Summary: 5 Stars
WELL worth 215 bucks.
Some key points.... 120 gig HD. AV out, Headphone jack.... works great as an mp3 player.
Wireless sync too slow to even imagine using... Not surprising when transfering 100 gigs of music, so not a surprise.
Wired sync is still fairly slow considering....
Have to use proprietary zune software to install media on it... BIG NO NO in my opinion... You cant mount it as an external drive under normal usuage... Meaning, no placing .doc files, or .zip, etc on it.
The players Interface is very intuitive... very well done in my opinion. The computer software interface.... yick... thats the best way I can describe it without setting off flags.
Why anyone would chose the ZuneHD with only 32 gigs of space, over this one with 120g of space is beyond me.
Sound quality is amazing when hooked up to my stereo verses playing the same mp3 via the stereos sd slot.
Had no issue connecting to my wpa2 wireless network.... was a pain to enter the pass key though.
Didnt like the lack of a car or wall charger.. you are forced to use the computer only untill you buy the accesory packs.
When I first got it, I thought it was DOA... Took about 45 minutes on charge before its first boot.... after that, the battery life has been insane. Listening to it virtually non stop from 6am, to 4pm, battery meter barely budged.
