Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Zune 120 Review Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Microsoft Zune through Amazon.com. I gave this product 5 stars because I personally love all of the features. The design is sleek and simple. The screen display is beautiful and is full of vibrant color and clarity. The buttons are easy to use and there is an option to turn of the touch scroll, so you can click instead. The menu is easy to use and so is the Zune Marketplace. I would say it is at least as good if not better than iTunes.
The Zune itself is easy to use. Downloading my music was super easy and I personally do not have the Zune Pass, rather, I purchase points. I do this because when you purchase points, you get to actually keep the music. If you get the pass, it is only yours for the subscription time. Also, I find it hard to download an infinite amount of music. I couldn't think of that many songs to get.
I would say the best parts about the Zune are the design and the radio function. I like the design because it is light enough and small enough to fit in your pocket, but not so small that you would be afraid to handle it. I love how the back of the Zune has a tough surface as oppose to the mirror-like surface of the iPod which is begging for scratches. I have read previously about questions pertaining to transferring music from iTunes to Marketplace. Just burn a cd of your music form iTunes, then turn around and put it in Marketplace. I uninstalled my iTunes because it kept wanting to be the default player and burner. Overall great MP3 player and I have had no issues. I would say the one tiny con is the battery life. It is a bit short in comparison to the iPod, but nothing a car charger can't fix.
My credentials with MP3 players include: Ipod Classic, Ipod video nano, and Ipod touch. I was sold on the Zune because it is just as good, but cheaper and I am not afraid to get my hands on it. Something about the Ipod Touch made it too fragile to me.
Customer Review: Ex-iPod owner speaks about the Zune Summary: 5 Stars
As a former owner of the Apple iPod classic 80 GB Black (6th Generation) , I have to say that Apple had me trapped. I hardly ever used the iTunes store because of the DRM restrictions (I usually ended up buying the CDs anyway). The iPod itself caused a few problems in itself (the unstable headphone jack killed at least 3 pairs of headphones and completely gave out within 6 months). I loved using Rhapsody to discover new music, but there weren't any similar subscription services that were compatible with iPod.
That's why i switched to the Zune. I found it to be a good switch, and a better fit for my listening habits. I love looking for new artists, and i found that the Zune marketplace was a good place to do so. I liked the idea of paying a flat rate per month to download whatever music i want. And 9 times out of 10, I find an artist on the iTunes store and it shows up on the zune marketplace, too. Most of the time, the zune pass allows you to download it via the zune pass, but every once in a while an artist decides to be selfish and make you pay for each song even with the zune pass. The best part is, instead of just playing them on the computer like Rhapsody does, I can take them all with me wherever i go!
The device itself is easy to use, durable, and includes plenty of features I use, and only a few I don't. My biggest problem is that the zune device has no equalizer. Not a big deal. I can't use it as a hard drive either, but the iPod wasnt really much good for hard drive anyway. The screen is basically the size of an iPod screen stacked on top of another iPod screen. Much easier on the eyes for watching videos.
All in all, I feel that the Zune is a better fit for me, and saves me lots of money each month on music. A very good investment overall.
Customer Review: Zune-rific Summary: 5 Stars
This is an outstanding product!
PROS: Apart from flawless function, the online support is amazing, comfortable, almost immediate, and very comprehensive. It starts with Zune.net, where you get constant software updates, a consumer forums side that is full of knowledgeable users to answer and lead you in every way needed, a technical side that responds quickly for glitches, bugs, and just plain questions, and a support/suggestion side for software/hardware wishes, interactive community that listens and discusses future inovation etc. It is great to feel a part of the product development in these days of ever changing minute by minute technology.
The Zune software interface is a paradigm shift to a very visual and pleasing experience.
The Zune device works very well in conjunction with that software.
The the Zune online community is very well thought out and offers Zuneart s and other special focus areas that promise a really exciting future...
CONS: THere are some basic features available on my Creative Labs Zen that are not yet incorporated into the Zune device software, but that do exist in the Zune computer software (pre sync). Personally I wish the software line was transparent between the device and the "mother" computer. Of course there is the keyboard limitation of the device (for data entry and editing)...it has none. Now there is a possible add-on accessory idea!!!
All in all though, my complaints are totally offset by the support and forums environments and my high hopes for those ever cool updates, as the software on both sides (device and computer) are updatable.
Add to the plusses the Zunerama.com website where you can find everything cool to expand your Zune experience.
Just too much to talk about..GET ONE!!!
Customer Review: Head Over Heels for My Zune! Summary: 5 Stars
If I could rate my Zune over 5 stars, I would. I had always wanted a Zune since their first launch, but 30GB was not enough storage space for my music. So I bought an 80GB iPod Classic, which I used for over a year. Being a fan of techno and electronica, I can't tell you how many songs sounded absolutely awful playing through my iPod - over premium speakers, no less.
When I saw the Zune was being released as a 120GB model, I was so excited. I sold the iPod on ebay, and headed over to Amazon asap to order my Zune. As soon as it arrived, I was in love with it. I'll list a few reasons why:
- The external design of the Zune is really sleek, and I love the matte black back plate. The squircle is very responsive, and I love having a play/pause button and a back button.
- The screen is simply stunning. Huge, with a crisp, bright display. Videos, album art, photos, and wallpapers look great.
- The twist menu system is intuitive, and a whole lot more accessible and interactive then the iPod menu I was used to. It's great to be able to move across the menu as well as down the menu.
- Audible.com compatibility. I'm a big audio book buff, so having a device that is compatible with Audible makes it easy for me to listen to my books.
The #1 thing I love about my Zune is the awesome sound quality. I created a test playlist of the songs I love that sounded distorted when playing on my iPod; they sound crystal clear on my Zune. I was nervous about what the sound quality would be like without an EQ, but I've found with my Zune I don't need one - all the music sounds great, all the time.
This is hands down one of my favorite things I've bought for myself, and I can't recommend it enough!
Customer Review: Great device, great price Summary: 5 Stars
I'd been wanting a larger-capacity mp3 player for awhile to replace my little 4G Sansa, but I didn't want to cave in to the I-Pod mania. After reading many reviews here and on other tech sites, I decided on the Zune 120G and can honestly say it's well worth the price. 120G is HUGE! More than enough for all my cds and new downloads. So now I can take my entire music collection with me when I travel or just drive around town, or just keep docked at home.
First off, it just looks cool and slick, with minimal buttons to confuse me since I am easily confused. Though I do agree with some reviewers that this can be a bit problematic if one is concerned about scratches and fingerprints. So for travel I ended up investing in a cover for it to protect it, and that works just fine.
Initially I was a bit leary about the Zune software as there were some complaints of it not working properly. But I've had no problems with it at all, and in fact, prefer it to Windows Media Player and I-Tunes.
The sound quality is very good, tho I would suggest splurging on premium earphones to really get the most out of it.
Navigating the Zune was a little bit confusing at first, especially since they do not supply a whole lot of specific directions. But I eventually got the hang of it. The wireless sync function was not something I expected to use, but since I have it docked in one part of the house and use my laptop in another part, the wireless sync has been invaluable. And since I set it to sync automatically, I don't really have to think about it, so my collection is always current.
Overall, this is a great mp3 player. Highly recommended!
