As a retired military guy I can't help but be interested in this type of technology. When I was in, we used third generation night vision. If anyone can actually afford these type of units I would look into it. But the reality of the situation is that most people can't spend that kind of money on such "toys". For Gen 1 units I really like the NVMT 4x50. If you do your research you will find that the resolution in this unit is better than most. I just ordered the rifle scope upgrade (from another site) and look forward to using that. (I live in Kansas which is full of prairie dogs but not for long.) I bought a Bushnell unit two years ago which is still going strong but the housing on this one is a much newer design. I have had freinds who have used ATN and Night Owl with varying degrees of success so do your research and make sure you get a good warranty.
Description of Yukon Nvmt 4X50 Night Vision Monocular
The NVMT 4x50 night vision monocular is an incredible multi-functional unit; both compact and lightweight, this versatile monocular weighs only 13oz. Featuring a durable, Rubber Armor body the 4x50 is weather resistant and completely capable of being taken off the beaten path. The built-in Pulse IR system uses a powerful infrared illuminator to provide added light detection under conditions where there is little or no detectable light and the illuminator?s pulsating beam reaches 2 to 3 times farther than other infrared systems and reduces battery drain. The NVMT series is the epitome of what a multitasking line should be; completely accessory driven, this monocular has the ability to be converted into a riflescope, mounted to head gear or transformed into a night vision camera. Available accessories include a IR flashlight, digital camera adapter, NVMT head gear kit and NVMT riflescope conversion kit. The NVMT 4x50 is backed by Yukon?s Limited Lifetime Warranty. The NVMT 4x50 is the most powerful handheld in the line. Fully multi-coated lenses decrease glare and improve light transmission to provide excellent viewing capabilities, while the internal components amplify visible for detailed nighttime observation. Its 50-millimeter lens ensures powerful light gathering and transmission for a pristine image, and is capable of providing 4X night vision magnification with only starlight. It operates by amplifying existing light using an electro-optical system, and its lenses have improved wavelength/contrast characteristics to help maximize light utilization.
An ergonomically-designed Rubber Armor body fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and slides into your pocket for quick accessibility, making it ideal for travel and prolonged use. Capable of being transformed into any of the NVMT line's variations, the 4x50 can additionally be used with an NVMT Riflescope Conversion Kit or NVMT Head Gear Kit.
