Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of X-Rite Eye-One Display LTCustomer Review: Definitely helped improve the color Summary: 4 Stars
I am starting to work in photography and wanted to make sure I had a good color representation on the screen. The software for this unit was a bit hard to figure out as to which program to run for what uses. But, eventually I figured out what I needed and I am pleased with the results. I have a pair of Samsung 226BW 22" wide lcd flat screen monitors and I had to put the unit off center to be able to make adjustments with the monitor settings as the unit was making each calibration check. You can set each monitor individually, but for dual monitor use it will use your primary monitor setting.
Customer Review: Great tool for monitor calibration! Summary: 4 Stars
If you're a pro or serious amateur photographer you need this device. It's a simple device to use and it should be in every photographer's or Photoshop users tool kit. I bought the LT model since I didn't need the extended bells & whistles that the Pro model has. The GUI is pretty straightforward and it can be set to remind you when you need to re-calibrate. The only minor gripe I have is that I seldom shut my computer down and the reminder in the software hasn't reminded me to re-calibrate when it's supposed to; I have it set for weekly. That's the reason for the 4 stars.
Customer Review: Not too bad for projector calibration. Summary: 4 Stars
I use this to calibrate the grayscale and colour gamut of my JVC DLA-HD750 projector to D65 and Rec709 standards. It works great with the free ColorHFCR software.
However, when I use the included software to calibrate the colour on my Dell 24" LCD screen (2407WFP), it created a very odd looking picture and worse than the out of the box settings. Can't figure out why yet. The driver included in the CD is also very very old, you're better off downloading it off their website.
Customer Review: Good device, instructions cold be better Summary: 4 Stars
The CD installed 3 software executables without any desktop shortcuts. The sparse documentation gave no hint of which of the 3 modules to start with. I ran "Eye-One Diagnostics" and it could detect the device. Vista complained that the driver was not digitally signed. I finally hunted around on the xrite web site to find and download the correct driver, and then I had to hunt through the Vista hardware device list to find the Eye-One and install the driver files.
Customer Review: It Works for Me Summary: 4 Stars
I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this product. A professional photographer acquaintance suggested that I should get this as he uses the pro version. I had no problem loading the software. Updating was basically automatic. The instructions were slightly confusing to follow but watching the How To video twice and stepping my way through the process worked the first time with great results. Take your time and it works.
