Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of ColorMunki Photo - Monitor, Printer & Projector ProfilerCustomer Review: Easy to use and had good support but small hassle to switch to SpectraView and back. Summary: 4 Stars
I have had a good experience with the munki in calibrating my NEC SpectraView monitor and Epson R1900 printer so that what I see on the screen is what prints- voila. The zipper failed on the pouch that holds the munki and xrite immediately sent a replacement at no charge and they were very nice about it- contra to some who have said they have a bad attitude. The Munki also worked beautifully with the NEC SpectraView II software for my photo monitor but at the moment there is an issue with Windows 7 when switching between X-Rite software and SpectraView II. My support experience with them has been very good. What some people may be experiencing is the complexities of color profiling because of the interfacing of other devices like printers and monitors. As noted by others this is not a simple process even if the Munki works perfectly. Incorrect settings in your other devices/software can cause all kinds of issues that are hard to track down. The only annoyance is that you have to go to Control Panel and Devices to disable "X-Rite Services (uncheck the box) in order for SpectraView to recognize the Munki in Windows 7. Then all works great until you want to use the X-Rite software again to profile the printer. I don't know whether NEC or X-Rite is at fault here but they ought to get together. Then using the X-Rite software for profiling my printer and SpectraView to profile the monitor would be a simpler process to go back and forth. Obviously if you don't have a NEC monitor or Spectraview this is a non-issue. Great product and would buy again. A real value too!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
For artists and photographers whom print on location, the ColorMunki works like a charm. We use it with a Dell XPS connected to a 30" external monitor and two printers.
The ColorMunki was not too difficult to set up with the initial internet connection. However, after that was complete, using it for calibration between the screen and printer was easier.
Prints and photograph colors match the screen perfectly when printing to our Canon, but our second all-purpose printer has shown slight incongruency - perhaps because we use recycled ink cartridges (instead of name brand ink recommended by the manufacturer).
Similar to most software on the market, the ColorMunki has a limit on how many systems may be connected it. We only have one computer channeled through an external monitor, printer, and wall projector to work with, so the limitation was not taken into consideration. Perhaps the manufacturer may consider changing this potential downside in the next model.

I just purchased the Color Munki. I installed it without any errors. I then checked for upgrades and installed it as well. I went thru the processes as stated in the instructions. I had no problem with scanning the test charts. I did have a problem when calibrating my monitor it asked me to adjust the brightness levels but I could not figure out how to lower the bright levels on my monitor so I continued. Once I got to the end my monitor looked horrible. Even though I printed out a picture using the print profiles generated my the color munki the picture looked great but my monitor looked over blown with contrast and brightness. So I went thru the processes again and this time I was able to adjust the bright levels on my monitor and the final results were outstanding. I printed out several pictures and much to my amazement they looked just like the monitor. As of now I'm very pleased with the operation of the color munki. I would recommend this to anyone who takes pride in getting the picture right the first time.
Customer Review: Don't take my Munki! Summary: 4 Stars
So far I'm thrilled with the paper profiles for my Epson R1800 that I've made with my Munki. They compare well to profiles that I paid for, although I haven't profiled those same papers yet to see how close they would be to each other.
I am still using a previously purchased profiling device for my monitor and I don't have a projector to profile, so I cannot comment on the Munki's ability to do those.
Maybe I didn't read the instructions closely enough, but I could not get the Munki working unless I had an active internet connection each time I make a profile.
I only gave it 4 stars, but I may change that to 5 in the future after using it for a while. Or maybe I'll downgrade it.....
I'm thrilled for now!

I was totally blown away by the before and after results of my first monitor calibration.
If you are serious about your pictures, do any post processing, or are frustrated with the way your prints look compared to what you see on your monitor, you need to calibrated your monitor and printer. The ColorMonki is not the cheapest profiler out there but then you get what you pay for. The ColorMunki is a breeze to install, use and produces printer profiles in just a few minuets. My prints have gone from barely acceptable to outstanding.
