Customer Review: Finally! I have accurate prints!

I've been struggling with color profiles for years now, but I haven't been able to find a printer profiler for under two grand. Instead I've been using a monitor profiler (Eye-One) but still had to fiddle with multiple prints to get the color I wanted. This was annoying so I limited my printing to the occasional special print.
With Colormunki, my prints now accuratly match my screen - what a concept! I did have to debate with myself whether to take an expensive chance on this, but I am so happy I did.
The process could hardly have been easier, though it did take longer than I thought. The initial setup (downloading the software and installing) took about a half hour, and the printer profiling took about the same since you have to wait for the prints to dry. The monitor profiling was pretty quick. Ever since then - perfect color matching. I've profiled two different papers I use (Ilford Gallerie and HP Premium Plus Soft Gloss) and prints on both papers look fantastic.
I highly recommend the Colormunki!

Don't know what the negitive reviews are about. Just opened the box an hour ago and have both monitor and printer profiled. Was very easy, just follow the on-screen instructions. You do however have to have a good working knowledge of you printer and the application you are printing from. You must turn off the printers Color Management and be able to select the printer profile saved after running Colormunki in the application you are printing from.
The "exception" in the title of this review is that as so many others, I feel the license only being good for 3 computers is a concern, I like others burn through computers in about six-months. No indication from x-lite if there is an alternitive to buying a new unit and software after the three downloads.
To sum-up ColorMunki Photo works as advertised if you do your homework (like checking printer compatibility before you buy) and have the knowledge to use advanced settings for you haedware and printers.

I read all the negative reviews before I purchased this device. I also read through the reviews on CNet and Amazon for the limited number of devices that compete with the ColorMunki at this price point. The ColorMunki is hands down the best device for the money. Having bought LaCie 10-bit monitors I was tempted to go with the LaCie Blue Eye, but it can't calibrate printers (or projectors). I also considered the Spyder 3 Elite, but as nice as it is, again it does nothing for printers. So if I wanted to calibrate not only monitors, but printers too, only the ColorMunki was left at less than $1200.
So I gritted my teeth and bought the ColorMunki Photo, expecting the worst. To my surprise it is incredibly easy to set up and use. I've used it on a variety of Macs and PCs and had NOT ONE problem with it.
I love this device and am very glad to own it!

Using the Color Munki has saved me so much time and money that it paid for itself in the first month. It's easy to use and creates great profiles. Two things are important to know however, 1. - if you have a cheap monitor, it's going to be harder to match your prints and 2. - I found that certain fine art papers really need some extra time to dry before the color sets - on the information sheet for Epson's Somerset Velvet, it says that can take 24 hours! If you do your test prints and wait a bit before reading them in, the profiles in the soft-proof in Photoshop look really close to the print. I'm a professional wedding photographer and I need a color calibration system that is not only accurate but easy to use. The Color Munki fits the bill! Whenever anyone asks online what to use, Color Munki is the brand that is recommended over and over... so I knew it was going to be good. I was not disappointed.
