Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital WDXMS1200TN Passport 120 GB USB 2.0 2.5-Inch Portable Hard DriveCustomer Review: A Great Purchase! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a vintage oldschool collectors adition powermac wallstreet (the black one with the white light up apple seen in Sex in the City.) So my options for upgrading my laptop were minimal considering the age of my laptop. I was excited upon arrival of this external hard drive, and it went above and beyond my expectations. I had no problems with the USB speed (which is awesome considering I have such an old school laptop!) I was able to transfer and store anything from MAC to PC without a problem. I had no problems with this external drive, it's sleek, small, very portable, and extremely fast. If it works as good on my old school laptop, then I can't not reccomend it!
Customer Review: Works Great Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this portable hard drive over a year ago and have been happy ever since. I use it to store ISO images of software titles, music, documents and pretty much anything else I need. I have not tried to use it as a dedicated backup drive but I imagine it would work fine in that situation. Overall, the drive is sleek and fits nicely in my backpack. Moving files to the drive isn't lightening fast but it isn't snail slow either. It is also relatively quiet compared to other external devices I have used in the past. I would definitely buy this again though I would probably want something slightly larger in capacity so I can carry more "stuff" around with me.
Customer Review: Western Digital 120GB Passport USB 2.0 Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
This is a well made compact drive that functions flawlessly for me. It has had no diffuiculty running on multiple different computers running Windows ME though Windows Vista Ultimate. The only downside if the operation of the syncing software - it tends to be disrupted by screen savers and truly is not as convenient to use as it could be. It would be so much better if it could be programmed to exclude certain file types. But, IAC, I bought the drive to transport me working programs and utilities and to transfer data between systems - mine and clients. I'm well pleased with the drive nad its operation.
Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for. Summary: 5 Stars
After realizing that my laptop hard drive was getting pretty full, I looked into small external hard drives. This one is perfect for what I need- small, sleek, easy to use. I don't use the included software for encrypting the data, and instead highlight and drag using windows explorer. Soon after copying all my data, I had to have my laptop hard drive replaced and would have been out of luck if I didn't have the WD hard drive! The only small gripe I have is that the USB cable is too short- about 6 inches- and requires you to have the laptop flat on a table, not on your lap like I usually have mine!
Customer Review: A solid product Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned a number of external hard drive products and this one rates among the best. Although I have only been using this product a couple of weeks, it has performed very nicely on laptop and desktop computers with no need of an external power supply. It fits easily in my pocket.
The only issue is that it often will not eject using the eject device icon at the bottom of the screen. So, you have to turn off the computer before it allows you to eject it.
Otherwise, I am very pleased with it.
