Sleek, sophisticated and small packaged powerhouse. Can't say that I have had the problems that the others have mentioned but then again, I am running this on a desktop PC. This beauty is *fast* and I'm able to download very large picture files (more than 15 large files in one folder apprx) in less than half a minute. Music transfers very quickly as well. I don't use the google search or any utility provided by Western Digital. I use it exactly for what it was designed to do: hold tons of data as a backup. No problem and I have used it for over six months. I will be upset when it fails to work on my new MacBookPro Dual Core 2, because this is an awesome, sleek (think black ipod sleek but without all the scratches, though do be careful), portable and lightweight gadget that is wonderful for all of us on the goor those who hate the chunky hard drives of yesteryear.Customer Review: Favorite Drive Yet

I have gone through numerous external hard drives and this so far has been the most robust. I bought this hard drive in the beginning of 2007. It has gone through a semester of school, everyday use, and a month traveling. I have been careful with it because with previous hard drives a drop could ruin it. I've practically used this drive everyday and it's still going strong. I was worried it might not survive a month backpacking but being jostled a bit in my backpack it still proved resilient.
I also own a Mac so previous hard drives such as the Seagate did not always mount so easily with my computer. And my Fantom Drive one day just died while I was uploading something. Other hard drives have been dropped and bumped. But right now the only drive that works is my WD. I only wish i bought one with more memory as my drive is nearly filled

I love this external HDD. I can't believe I've lived without one for so long. It's very easy to use; after you install it, which shouldn't take too long, you simply drag any item (i.e, music, files, pictures, documents, pretty much anything) and you're done.
The HDD is also compatible with both the PS3 and Xbox 360. I was listening to music, looking at my pictures and watching videos from my external hard drive on both consoles and it worked perfect. I even managed to transfer videos I downloaded from my PS3 to the HDD and watched them on my 360. It's pretty sweet.
I'd recommend this product to everybody. Very user friendly, works better than a flash drive and you're given a whole lot of memory. If your computer is clogged with a lot of stuff like music, videos and pictures, I'd recommend you get this item. Worth it.

I may have misspoken. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, my friend had the device formatted for all three operating systems. Therefore, although the below statement is still correct, it may not be a simple as plugging it in even though that is all I had to do.

I was a little worried about the performance/ease of use of this product because it was going to need to be compatible with a Mac, Vista, and XP Professional operating systems. Well, I am happy to report that it was as simple as plugging it into all three computers and that's it. Excellent storage capacity, sleek design (slightly larger than an index card and about as thick as a pack of gum).
I can find no downside to this product.

This external drive packs a lot of punch despite its small size.
I bought it to store my ever growing collection of music and photos.
Here is a list of things that I like about it:
+ No external power needed. That means no hassle of wires around your PC/laptop.
+ It worked well with my macbook without the need for any reformatting. Just plug and use.
+ Its black color looks great with my white macbook
+ Extraordinary speeds, especially with mac.
+ Sleek and compact. I can carry it in my pocket too.
+ Tough and shiny black exterior
+ Again, looks great with my white macbook :)
I would suggest that one should buy a small case too along with this drive to protect its shell from scratches.
