Customer Review: Very quiet and reliable so far in my Mac Mini
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a bigger drive than the stock 80GB in my Mac Mini and this one (500GB Scorpio Blue) fit the bill. I was hesitant at first due to all the negative reviews about reliability and noise but for the price, I was willing to take a chance. Ever since the install, I have not heard any clicking noises from the drive and it's about 2 feet from me. I hear alot more drive park clicking from my Lenovo laptop, which is normal according to the WD tech I called about this issue. So far so good. I've been keeping a backup of everything and will update my review if anything goes wrong. So at the moment, I highly recommend this drive. The packaging was adequate but interesting b/c there were no seals to break to open the box but luckily for me, the drive was still inside.

Customer Review: Works great with PS3
Summary: 5 Stars

I installed this in my PS3 (replacing the original 40gig HDD). I have been using the upgraded system for over a month and it has worked great!!!

The install took about 1/2 hour. I definitely recommend reading a number of different tutorials online. These are some of the steps that I took that made this HDD work for me.

- Backed up my system to an external USB HDD.
- Installed the HDD.
- Used a USB Thumb Drive to install the update for the PS3 operating system. Make sure that it is placed in the proper directory on the Thumb Drive.
- Formatted the new HDD for PS3.
- Rebooted.

All of these steps are in various tutorials online, but don't expect any one tutorial to tell you everything.

Customer Review: Great replacement deal for Macbook
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this as a replacement for my Macbook's (2008-2009 model) original hard drive since it got corrupted when the laptop fell down at an airport ( Yes, kill me !!!)

Considering I got this 500 GB for 40 odd bucks as a replacement for 160GB original Hard drive is a super bargain.

Installation is easy and take about 5-10 minutes.

I saw many comments complaining about it being too loud but I did not find much difference when i compare it to the original one.
The speed is decent as before.
I also heard cases of the hard drive going out after few months of usage. In case that happens I will surely let you all know.

But for now if it working great with no visible issues. Great deal !!

Customer Review: WD 500GB in a macbook
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this drive for a mid 2007 white macbook as its stock 80gb hard drive was becoming full. I also purchased a external usb enclosure locally. Got the new hard drive (OEM packing means drive only in a plastic bag), put it in the external enclosure, used superduper to create a bootable clone, and placed the new hard drive in the macbook. Turned it back on and now there is a little more than 400gb free. The drive is very quite, and there isn't any noticeable vibrations. The performance seems adequate (there is a recent review on notebookreview.com comparing this drive the the 320gb 7200 rpm scorpio black and the performance was very comparable). I would recommend this hard drive to anyone who is need of more space for their notebook.

Customer Review: Ecstatic!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had an HP HDX18T that I purchased in March 2009 w/a Hitachi 320 GB 5400 RPM drive. It started making noise shortly into its life, probably due (in part) to Vista's incessant need to spin it (LSASS and CSRSS EXE's being the main culprits). As an MSDN subscriber I have early access to Microsoft releases, so I downloaded and threw Windows 7 Ultimate on a bare metal Scorpio Blue 500 GB drive. Under Vista it would take 10 minutes to fully boot- 5 minutes (minimum) before the logon screen would show. Well, be it the drive, Winblows 7 Ultimate, or the absence of HP bloatware, I now boot fully in UNDER A MINUTE!! In addition, this drive is SILENT!! For $100 you simply can't go wrong. Not hot at all. VERY happy with this puppy.
