Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 2.5 Inch, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD5000BEVTCustomer Review: Great Product, Great Price! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to use on my Sony PlayStation 3, and wow it working great! Before this I was using an 80 GB HDD, I had to watch everything I downloaded, could never keep the games on my PS3, didn't have any movies or music... they were sad times...
It was easy to install, it only took me about 10 minutes...
And now, after I have bought this new HDD, I can do really whatever I want on my PS3... I have all of the games I ever bought off of the PlayStation Store downloaded to my PlayStation 3, I have every disk-based game installed on my PS3, downloaded every episode of The Tester, and other movies/television shows off of the PlayStation Store, and much much more. And I still have much space to go before I have to worry about space!
I highly recommend this!
Customer Review: Great for a PS3 upgrade, but 1st. . . . . Summary: 5 Stars
As many have stated, this is a great upgrade for your PS3. What on earth could you do with 500gb is beyond me and that is part of the charm of this product. You'll never have to worry about space again.
It should be easy to do right? Simply take out the old one and put this baby in and your good for a re-format session right? Not quite. First you're going to need to download the latest firmware updated unto a CD or DVD through your computer(At the time of this review its update 2.6) Then after you replace your HDD the systam will give you a notice about incompatability upon boot-up. Insert the media with the update into the slot and press select+start. This will allow it to reformat to your new 500GB PS3.
This is a great idea if you're planning on installing another OS.
Customer Review: Recommended Mac Mini upgrade Summary: 5 Stars
This was purchased to upgrade my Intel Mac Mini, and in my research it seemed like the Scorpio Blue/Black had the best overall reviews. I picked Blue due to the larger available size, a tradeoff over speed, but I'm not disappointed - it's as fast as I could expect from a 5400 RPM drive, and I don't see much lag in anything I do.
What's to say about it? The hardest part of the upgrade was deconstructing my mini to make the upgrade. The drive went in easy, spins up reliably, and is quiet, quiet, quiet. Needless to say I'm not experiencing any of the issues noted in the negative reviews (noise, reliability, failure) after 90 days of ownership. If you're looking to upgrade your laptop/mini drive, I can't see how you'd miss with this one. 500 GB goes a long way.
Customer Review: Great Christmas Present Summary: 5 Stars
I actually bought this drive for myself for Christmas. It arrived 2 days before it said it would. This drive is everything I was hoping it would be. I installed in my HP DV6000 laptop to replace the 120 gig. This drive fit like a glove. The only problem I had with the install was HP uses a special adapter that I didn't know about. After some research I realized I had to take the adapter off the old drive and install it on the new drive. That is just operator error and is no reflection on this product. I just hope maybe that will help someone else. The drive works great and is quiet. I like Western Digital products. This is the second one I have owned. I own an external 500 gig I use on my desktop machine. It has been humming away for 2 1/2 yrs now. They are a great value.
Customer Review: Out of the box install for Macbook Summary: 5 Stars
This is a OEM hard drive. No pretty retail box or instructions just the hard drive in plastic and surrounded in foam. I bought this to upgrade my first generation 160gig black Macbook. I waited till my Apple Care policy expired so I wouldn't void my warranty that I never needed to use. Opening up the Mac and replacing the drive took less than 10 minutes (I took my time). I used my Leopard disc and Time Machine to reinstall the OS and all my applications and documents. Time Machine took 3 hours or so but everything has been recovered just as before. The hard drive is the same 5400 speed as my old Hitachi that shipped with my Mac so its just as quite. Very easy to install, and fast to get up and running. Now I have more than tripled my storage for less than 90 bucks.
