Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital My Passport Essential 250 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive (Midnight Black)Customer Review: Great Value, Highly Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this 2 months ago based on my good experience with the WD Passport 80HD that I had since last July.
This is a very pretty and reliable portable drive. The essential version is slightly thicker than the old version, but as pretty. I traveled a lot and always carry these drives in the laptop bag. A lot of throwing around, no problems. The transfer speed is ok. I had other drives before(such as Simpletech, a piece of crap), Western Digital is the way to go.
Customer Review: Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
Great product. This is my first external hard-drive. I put off buying one for many years, but it has reached a point that I have too much information that I do not want to lose. A friend told me that his computer froze up and he lost all his pictures, music, ect. I decided it was time to stop putting it off and started researching external hard-drives. The Western Digital received good reviews so I ordered it. Very easy to use and now all my info. is backed up.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I've only used it once so far but I can say that it is an awesome external hard drive. It's super small/slick compared to other ones I've seen, and it's super easy to use and doesn't need a battery cord - it just uses a USB. Plus it can be used with Mac or PC. Just make sure you reformat the drive first if you have a Mac (that's what I had to do). For Mac users, it syncs with Time Machine, making it really easy to back up everything on your computer.
Customer Review: Everyone Needs a Portable Hard Drive! Summary: 5 Stars
If you have important files that you cannot afford to lose or cannot duplicate get this product. You just plug and go and follow the directions. You can even save you e-mails and attachements. It is 128-bit encryption so your information is safe. I am backing up all of my electronic files and storing it on my WD Passport so I can place it in my fire box or security deposit box. This is the new way to store all of your important files.
Customer Review: Uses very little battery power Summary: 5 Stars
Because my laptop is several years old, the battery does not last as long as it used to. I was pleasantly surprised when I used the 250gb Passport hard drive and it made no noticeable impact on my battery life. It comes with some automatic backup software, but it is easy to delete if you don't want it. My only beef is that the cable is only a little over a foot long, but I'm willing to deal with it because the hard drive is great.
