This really is a simple, easy to use hard drive that delivers in every way possible. I read the reviews about the poor software so I just deleted it from the start:
To delete the software, just connect the drive to your computer. If there's a prompt to install "My Passport" anything, cancel it or exit the window. Then open the drive in My Computer (it will be called "My Passport"), highlight everything, and delete it. Simple as that.
Load your files onto the drive by opening the "My Passport" and just click-and-drag over whatever you want on there.
Super easy to use and the best buy out there. Highly recommend this hard drive over anything.

I love this device, In it's defence, Everyone comments on the cable being too Short. What part of mobile do you not understand. It's short for a reason. True it does not come with a case so I went out and got one. There...Now its protected. and the cable fits in the case without making it to bulky. I use this for exactly for what its intended for. I hook up the cable with the drive right next to the Laptop, Why do I need a long cable, When I back up the desktop I set the drive on top of the tower. When Im done it gets put away back in the case. Now why do you need a long cable or care how easy it is to scratch. It's a great MOBILE device that does what I paid for.Customer Review: Nice drive

I have this drive for about half-a year now. It is recognized both by Windows XP and Mac OS X (Leopard). I did not use any software to do backups, just grab the files myself and drag them to the drive, or use a script (.bat file). Operation is exceptionally simple: you connect it - it is recognized by the computer, you use it, and then use disconnect/eject command (I am guilty of not always doing this, but no problems so far) and disconnect it. The drive comes in a soft case, does not have and require any power supply, works via USB cable, and no problems whatsoever so far. I am thinking about buying another one, maybe slightly bigger (there is a 320G version).Customer Review: Another great hard drive!

This is the second I have purchased of this exact drive! The first I use for work and the second I use for personal. It is small and sleek. I carry mine around in my back pocket... about the size of a man's wallet. Very sturdy- I have sat on them a few time without remembering to take them out of my pocket first. One has even gone through the wash- gave it a couple days to try out then plugged up and still working. I wouldnt suggest the wash though as it is still potentially harmful to electronics. I was just lucky. Decent transfer rate for a single USB 2.0 transfer. VERY portable. Never disappointed with western digital.Customer Review: WD passport--easy choice

This is the second Passport I have owned. Both come in a small package are easy to use and are rugged enough to bounce around in a briefcase or bag. Access time is fine and it works right out of the box. Wish it came with a case hard or soft but they are available by third parties. My only complaint is that the USB cord is short--about 10 inches. This is fine if your USB ports are on the front of your computer and the computer is on your desk but if its sitting on the floor... Of course you probably already have a spare USB cord anyway so its no big deal. Very reliable product.
