Customer Review: Best bet, even though a "mere" 60 gigs.

Seeing that Passport drives of twice the capacity were available for less than an additional 20 bucks, I was about to bite on the "bigger is better" lure. But then I realized that I haven't come close to filling the 20 gigs on my iPod and that I would be using the unit for portable transfer--and not for the transfer of numerous feature-length movies. Moreover, Amazon consumers, as is apparent in the ratings, register greater satisfaction with the 60 gig unit than the larger sizes.
This one is as convenient to use as my Sandisk flashdrive, and a lot harder to misplace. When I decide to get a 250-500 gig drive for backing up my hard-disk, it will make sense to look at something that's less portable and plug & play than the Passport series. Western Digital's My Book series appears ideal for that purpose (though I do feel that the supplied 6" cable is too short. 12"-18" would be optimal).
[3 months later: At present the prices are so bent out of shape that the WD 60GB drive is priced at and even above the WD 80 and 120 drives, not to mention a rugged favorite, the Toshiba 120 GB portable. I would suggest waiting for a price break or going for the larger-sized drive.]
