Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital 320GB Scorpio Blue SATAII 5400RPM 2.5IN 8MB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive WD3200BEVTCustomer Review: Graet HDD Summary: 5 Stars
My MacBook went dead on me the other day, it just stopped working. Went to the service center at a Mac store and the diagnostic was HDD failure. No surprise here, I knew it would happen sooner or later, but then they told me the price for the new HDD at the Mac Shop, about US$140 for a 120GB HDD. Outrageous. So I got this HDD, almost 3 times the capacity at 1/3 the price!!! Installation is fairly easy, nevertheless, since I was already paying for the diagnostic, I got the guys at the Mac Shop to install it for me. Plugged the Time Machine external HDD and in about 1 hr had my MacBook the way it was just 1 hr before the crash. I'm a happy customer, my Mac works great with lots of additional space :)
Try that with Windows.
Customer Review: Fantastic hard drive, especially considering the price!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This hard drive was a purchase I made because I was in a hurry to repair my friend's notebook computer. I live overseas and I am very limited on buying products to mostly online. I must say that Amazon.com made my experience of purchasing this hard drive easy and quick. Not only did it arrive as promised (in only 3 days), but it was professionally packaged and secure from any rattling and such. In addition to the aforementioned, I had no problems installing it and loading the operating system. I rate this experience at its highest level (of 5 stars) and would recommend shopping at Amazon.com to anyone. Thank-you Amazon.com for being a great option and mine for now on!!!!
Sincerely,
Jeff
Customer Review: Great little drive Summary: 5 Stars
One of the specific reasons that I picked this drive was the closeness in the specs with the 160GB drive that Sony put in my laptop. Included was the SATA 300 transfer rate. I wanted a 7200 RPM drive, but could not find one that was SATA 300. The drive is quick and has operated flawlessly for my application. I downgraded my laptop from Vista to XP and used the new drive to preserve the Vista instance.
Don't know how much the speed of this drive contributes, but the machine seems more than twice as fast now. BTW, a USB to SATA interface for the old drive was immeasureably helpful in transfering my data to the new system. It's also good to have friends to help this process along.
Customer Review: Perfect drive for upgrading older Macbooks/Macbook Pros Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up to upgrade a friend's Macbook and it went off without a hitch. It was a simple procedure: get an external enclosure, plug the new 320gb drive in to it, dupe the drive via SuperDuper, and then replace the drive. The drive is super easy to replace (there are countless tutorials on Youtube). The only hard part is finding the weird hex drive screwdriver that you need to remove from the internal drive you're replacing.
Other than that - you can swap drives in about 90 minutes with the full confidence that this drive will offer more space and be faster. I'm happy with it on mine and my friend is happy that she now has a lot more space to store mp3s and movies.
Customer Review: Great drive for the MacBook Pro Summary: 5 Stars
Got this drive as the capacity of the OEM drive provided by Apple for my MacBook Pro 17" was nearing it's capacity. I order a Deckcell USB 2.0 to SATA + IDE (2.5", 3.5", 5.25") Cable with Power Adapter from Amazon at the same time, so moving the data from the internal drive to the new drive was a breeze and painless. After loading the OS, and having the OSX installation process move the data, installation of the drive itself was done (a little cumbersome, but not too bad) and this new drive is performing well and is MUCH quieter than the original OEM drive.
If you are considering a replacement drive for your Mac Book Pro, I strongly recommend a look at this drive!
