Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Western Digital 320GB Scorpio Blue SATAII 5400RPM 2.5IN 8MB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive WD3200BEVTCustomer Review: Quiet, fast and stable Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent drive for the money. I cloned my old drive with the Apricorn Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit ($40 at Amazon). Then I pulled out my old drive and put in the new WD drive and everything is working perfectly! My system is exactly as it was with the old drive but with much more space. No need to reinstall the operating system, etc. and waste half of a Sunday reloading all my programs and drivers. The WD drive is very quiet and much faster than my old OEM drive. I know the specs show there are faster drives out there but this one seems very quick to me....and for the money, forget about it....I'd buy this drive again in a heart beat. Obviously it's an OEM product so there are no manuals, cables, etc but I think for most applications you won't need them.
Customer Review: Works like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a larger drive to replace my 160gb Sony VAIO SZ660 notebook. With the latest 320gb drives, I wanted to make sure that it still gave a decent performance and maintained an acceptable power consumption. This drive worked in every aspect. Just from normal use, I can't really see any difference in the battery life without testing it in depth. But from normal use, it seems to be the same; give or take 5mins, which is quite acceptable for double the storage. The performance is on par with the OEM 160gb 5400rpm Seagate. What's amazing is the noise. I can hardly hear any noise from the spinning and the actuator reading data. The Seagate was quite loud. I could hear it accessing data with clicking noises. The WD is just silent.
Good buy.
Customer Review: Western Digital 500 GB 2 1/2" SATA Internal Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
Great! I bought this Western Digital 500 GB 2 1/2" SATA Internal Hard Drive to upgrade the Drive on my 80 GB PS3. It was very easy to upgrade the hard drive. Instructions are on Playstation Network (on the internet) and in your PS3 manual. CNET has also publish instructions and there are some decent videos on You Tube just so you feel more comfort.
The drive runs great. The drive was only $90 with free shipping from Amazon. A great deal.
The drive runs great. I'm glad I upgraded my PS3.
Bottom line, the drive works great and it was a very easy to upgrade. I chose this 5400 rpm 2 1/2" SATA drive because it is most compatible with the PS3 plus it will not generate more heat like a faster rpm drive may do.
Customer Review: No regrets. Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say, after doing considerable research on upgrading my 60GB PS3, I choose this hard drive above all. It's very easy to install, and was damn near the same exact price of the 250GB HDD (made by the same company, which is now $5 more than the 320gb at the moment for some odd reason) that I was contemplating putting in. So, yeah, you're getting 100 extra gigs at the cost of nothing. Awesome deal, can't believe how easy it was to take out the old hard drive and put this one in. There's also no need to do anything with the HDD if you plan on using it as a PS3 HDD substitute. It'll format it to what it needs and everything.
Fantastic product. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to upgrade their PS3's. You won't regret it.
Customer Review: Great PS3 Replacement Drive Summary: 5 Stars
Works Great in the PS3.
Installation was Easy.
For those of you stuck at 30Gig on your Backup Drive due to Windows Fat32 Limitation. I used a Utility called Swiss Knife that you can find on CNet website or Download.com website. It allowed me to Format my Drive larger than 30 Gig so I could Backup my 60 Gig Drive.
Granted if you do not have an external USB Harddrive available you can backup your gamesaves to a USB thumb drive and then you have to re-download all your stuff from the PSN Store from the Downloads Link.
All of your Games have to re-update as well. Not too big of a hassle...
Now I have a TON of room left. I think I'll copy my whole CD Library to my nice big Hard Drive...
