I got this hard drive when my NEW external Western Digital Studio edition 500GB hard drive started having problems. I needed something cheap, fast, and small. This drive is everything I had hoped it would have been. It is very very small and totally silent. My Dell laptop had no problems finding it or powering it up. One very small downside is that the included USB cable is very very short, but not a big deal. I didn't use the software included on the drive.
This drive is very simple to use and works great. I would recommend it to anyone needing a reliable, small, quick back-up device.

This is great for expert users and for people who don't know anything about computers. Easy plug and play usage makes it perfect for anyone who needs to back up data or easily and quickly transfer data from work to home or any other place they use a computer. I use mine mainly for music, pictures and movies that I put on my IPOD but obviously it can be used for anything. From another review I read, I went at formatted the drive for NTFS for my convenience, but that is not necessary. And as always, western digital provides a quality hard drive that is affordable, portable and overall a great buy.Customer Review: Simple and Fast

I have had this 160 Mb drive for about a month now. I have used it without any hitches on three laptops, a 3 year old HP, a 4 year old Dell, and a current Apple Macbook. It is fast, simple to operate and I would recommend to to anybody looking for a backup drive. One good thing about this drive is that it is powered off the USB port so it has no power cable and bulky adaptor to plug in. The Macbook accesses the drive easily and can read any of the info copied off the PC's onto the drive and visa versa.
My only complaint is that I wish they had other colours instead of black!

LOVE it! With 9-10 machines that I need to synchronize data between, some laptops some desktops, this is the right external HD and the price is certainly right, having broken below the $1/gig point that external drives seem to have been stuck at.
It's not blazingly fast, but fast enough to work from.
It's quite quiet and the design is exceptionally slick with the rubber cover over the usb port.
My only complaint (and it's a pithy one) is that the usb cable shipped with the drive is no bigger than about 4 inches.

I recently bought this portable hard drive to free up some space on my laptop. I transferred about 100 GB onto the drive in a relatively short amount of time, I think around 25-30 minutes. Although it may be slightly more expensive than some other external hard drives, it makes up for it in its smal, compact, portable size. It makes it incredibly convenient to take to other places. Another amazing thing about it is that it does not need to be plugged into the wall, it simply uses the USB for power! Overall, I would highly recommend the product.
