Customer Review: With a little luck & a few measurements

I needed this to replace a hard drive in an older laptop. It was pretty hard to figure out whether this one was compatible or not, even from the HP website, so I finally just measured it and checked for the SATA plugs. Since I trust Amazon, I wasn't worried about the experiment.
The packaging was elaborate. The hard drive was suspended in the center of the box by plastic sleeves on either side of it. It was also wrapped in a bag that may have been an anti-static bag. Impressive wrappings for such a small device.
Installing it was a breeze, too. Honestly, I know so little about PCs that I guessed which compartment the hard drive was in to measure it. Once the part arrived, I pulled out the old hard drive and plugged this one in. The screws didn't line up so I screwed in the one that didn't fit and it locked the drive in place, protecting it from falling out or coming loose while under the normal care of a 14YO.
I was worried that the drive was going to need to go into a computer store to be formatted or something once it was installed but it was actually pleasantly easy to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Granted, they were written and I prefer pictures but even as technologically inept as I am, I managed.
