I purchased the WD Passport because I have had great experiences with WD internal drives and was proved correct in assuming that this quality carries over into their external portable drives as well. The Passport connects quickly, has a really powerful synchronization function built in that essentially allows a person who travels often to turn any computer into his or her computer while on the road, and then synchronize their personal PC or notebook at a later date using the Passport to update the changes that where made while away. The price is great for the storage capacity, and the design is obviously pretty sleek too.Customer Review: Perfect portable storage solution

I used to store my music and pictures on a larger external hard drive and always had issues synching itunes whenever it was not connected to my laptop. I was looking for something small enough to put in my computer bag and carry around with me without adding alot of extra weight. I also wanted to be able to connect or disconnect the hard drive without having to reboot my computer. There was no setup time and the Passport works like a charm. It also has significantly more storage space than my laptop so I will never run out of space! For the amount of storage and convenient size, the Passport is a steal at this price.Customer Review: Great Value

I am a video professional and use these drives to handoff the HD footage that we've shot for our clients. We use them as shuttle drives so that customers can conveniently take their footage back to edit suite. Of course you don't want to try and edit with these drives - they are just for convenient storage and transfer of assets. We have purchased and used about twenty of the drives. So far the drives have performed beautifully. The pocket size LaCie drives on the other hand sometimes give us problems. It seems that the USB power to the LaCie drives has difficulty. The drive came and has been great since I got it. I already had a 250 GB passport for my PC and I'm usng this one primarily for my Macbook Pro. it is as good as promised. I like the fact that it is small and easy to use. The best part is that it is powered by the USB cable, so there is no need for an additional cable to plug into an outlet. The USB cable is long enough for a laptop or a front port on a desktop machine, but if you only have ports on the rear of the machine, it could be a little inconvenient. Otherwise it's a great deal for portable and secure back up of files.Customer Review: Works Great!

Bought this as an off-site back-up hard drive in case of hurricane, flood, or other terrible calamity. Have a iMac so needless to say the back-up process is easy with the built-in Time Machine function. Just hook up the hard drive, designate it as the back-up device, do the back-up, disconnect and put in my briefcase to take to work in a safe place. Worth the price to have piece of mind that in the event of a catastrophe, I can purchase a brand new iMac and then replicate all that I had on my old computer onto the new! This product works as advertised, no problems.
