I borrowed one of these from a friend for some temporary storage. I had NO idea how small it is. Unbelievably tiny. Powered up and was found by a Windows XP Pro SP2 system in less than 5 seconds. Transfer speeds are fine.
I wanted to try something else, so before I gave it back to him, I loaded a few folders of home ripped .mp3 files, in folders and also out of folders in the root directory. My car has an Alpine CDA-9886 deck with a USB input and works great with a USB thumb drive. I thought this would be the ultimate in carry around music collections. Forget 16gb or even 32gb thumb drives.
I plugged it into my deck and it would not power up. I'm assuming the deck does not have enough power to operate it normally.
Bad news for my little niche, but it does not detract from a great product.

This is better than i thought it would be and is just like the description it is slim and passport size,Light and fits easily in your pocket. I recomend buying a case for it as it scratches and marks easily because of it's shiney finish.It's vey easy to use,just plug it in and away you go.Nothing complicated and the down loading is very fast and it's very quiet,i recomend going through the software and deleting what is not applicable.Also you do not actualy have 320GB and is more like 298GB but it's good value for money.This is my first Western Digital product and am very satisfied with it and would definately buy their products again.

First off, this drive is quite stylish, portable, and small. Exactly what I wanted. I really wish I could give this 4.5 stars, because the only thing lacking is the speed. It's pretty sluggish when transferring large data, like movies. I honestly can look past the speed for it's portability and small stature. I mean, I can take this thing anywhere, it's not much bigger than my cell phone!. It also comes with a small, but handy USB Cable.
Pros: Great Price, Very Portable, Small Size, 320GB HD Space, Compatible w/ just about every Computer Operating System.
Cons: Speed. (Only thing that I would complain about, other than that I'm a happy customer!

It appears the other 300+ reviews have covered most of the +s and -s of the hard drive. It's a great little drive from what I've seen so far. I received the HD and immediately did a full format into NTFS. when I did the quick format in Vista, it converted it to something similar to NTFS (Xfat or something weird) but NOT the true NTFS. I would recommend a full format, obviously.
Here is what I'm getting on a simple robocopy command for stats on the drive. This is a mix of small (1-2Mb) to large (1XXMB) files being copied:

This drive is awesome. I can put some files on it, unplug it from my computer, put it in my pocket, and transfer them to another computer with great speed. I had no problems setting it up or anything - it just worked.
The 320GB of storage is nice - it ensures you have tons of storage but not TOO much. It seems to have really fast transfer rates over USB, faster than I expected. The small size lets you put it practically anywhere.
I don't have any complaints about this product - everything worked nicely. One thing that they might be able to improve on is over a longer USB cable. I know you can get an extension, but it'd be nice if a longer one was bundled.
Overall, this is a fantastic drive for a variety of uses. I recommend this series to all of my friends.
