This is my second WD Passport drive as the first (160GB) has been very reliable. I bought the 320GB to back up and share files between my home and office PCs. The speed is a bit lacking, but this is a portable drive and it doesn't require external AC, so I can forgive its slowness. Its convenience factor is just great, and 320GB (~=298GB as reported by Windows) is lots of storage for on-the-go needs. I recommend this highly as a portable storage solution -- and the drive is quite stylish.Customer Review: Does the job, piano black finish will scratch in seconds

The hard drive is fast, quiet, and does what it's supposed to do: store and transfer data. Not much more to say about the functionality. I was reluctant to give it five stars because of the glossy piano black finish that gets "micro" scratches (much like the silver back of an iPod) in seconds. However, a hard drive is not an art piece and it will likely be sitting in your briefcase or on the desk, so it's physical appearance should not be a reason to take stars off. I have been using this portable hard drive for almost 1 year and a half and I have no complain whatsoever. It is working so well I am amazed and I can tell you I really don't treat as carefully as I should. I plug and unplug it without warning, I've brought it in very tough environment and it worked like a charm.
It is tough, small, silent and it feels as fast as using the computer internal hard drive. It is one of the best electronics purchase I have made (and I make a lot of them).

Such a small, elegant form factor. I plugged it into my PC & Windows recognized it right away. Seeing that there are a lot of system files & folders shown. I created a folder called 'HD' & stored all personal files there. Then I carried my Passport Drive over to my Mac & I was up & running just as quick. It's almost as portable as a Flash Drive & has boat loads more room. An excellent buy.
I just wish they made a My Passport this same size with 500GB & just as reliable!

I'd been looking for a portable hard drive and my son recommended this one because they are used at his office and the price was right. I highly recommend this model for home or office. We have so many pictures that would be hard if not impossible to replace.
