Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8-Inch Pen Tablet

Customer Review: I am very happy with my new Wacom Intous3.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an adult student who has gone back to school for graphic design. I really wanted to get a Wacom tablet but wasn't sure which to invest in. I did a lot of research both on Wacom's site and reading reviews at various sites, including Amazon. In the end I decided to go with the Intuos 3 instead of the Graphire 4. It seemed that the Intuos was specifically more for the professional designer, where as the Graphire more geared for personal and hobby use. I have not used a Graphire so cannot comment on this. However I am very happy with my Intuos. I went with a 6x8 size and feel this is perfect. Any bigger and it would take up more room and be harder to commute with. And smaller and it would be harder to draw with. I have only had this a week but I love it. Yes, there is a learning curve. But I am able to to use this without much hassel right out of the box. I highly recommend this product. I used it with photoshop and illustrator.

Customer Review: Wacom is Lover-ly ^_^
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great piece of hardware! I love being able to have the freedom to draw like I normally would on paper, though the space is a bit small. Had I realized I would be drawing more and more once I got it, I think I would have opted for a bigger working surface; I'm not complaining though.

I like that there were extra and different types of nibs (interchangeable "lead") for the pen, it has been fun finding a tip I like and using that since some of the nibs are a little weird or hard to use constantly (some feel funny when working and they all flow differently too).

One last thing, the cord depressed me a little. I knew there would be a cord attached to it ... but I really wished Wacom came up with a completely wireless tablet. I have some many plug-in cords on my computer ... having a USB plug with no wires that I have to hide from sight would make everyone's life a little more efficient I think.

Customer Review: What a great tablet!
Summary: 5 Stars

I previously owned a Wacom Graphire4 4x6 tablet, and decided to graduate to this new bigger one. I gave away my Graphire to a friend that's never had a tablet before, so she was happy. This tablet is much bigger, has a great pen and stand, is much sturdier feeling, and has great software.

The only glitch I had so far was with the included Corel Painter Essentials 4 software. When I installed the device and software on my new Vista 64-bit computer, this program wouldn't open. I researched on the internet and found that if you hold down the shift key while you open the program, it works fine. They may have a more permanent fix, I just haven't tried since finding this work-around.

I used my old tablet as just a photo-editor, but with this one, the painting program is so much fun, I'm sure I'll get a lot more enjoyment out of this new tablet, while learning what all the new buttons and features do.

Customer Review: Satisfied all my expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

We used these tablets for my graphics classes at school last semester, and I loved using them so much I had to get one. Now I can take it anwhere, and use it at work as well as school! I have been able to expand my art media into the digital realm, as I never really could before. For a computer art professional, I would go with nothing less than an Intuos 3. I have heard other tablets are great, such as the Graphire series, but I just loved the precision and pressure sensitivity of the Intuos. I also really like the design, though it does kind of get annoying to hit the zoom scroll bar when you're trying to type. (I have solved this by setting my tablet to the side of my computer screen.) The only problem I've had is that on a couple of occasions for no apparent reason it "freaks out" and clicks or scrolls repeatedly. Not sure why this happened, but it is very infrequent. All in all, a good, solid product.

Customer Review: The Flagship in Tablets
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best tablet you can buy on the market. Wacom offers the most up to date drivers and software bundles of any company, backed by the power of the hardware itself. Installation took less than 5 minutes. You plug it in, and it installs itself through Windows, then you put the disc in to put all the sensitivity and other things on it to complete the installation. It was a breeze and I had no problems. While it may not be the tablet for those tight on money or novices, it certainly is highly recommended for professionals and hobbyists. It feels like pen on paper, and it has different nibs for different feels. The response is real time, but higher end computers will be able to record speedy and large brush movements on Photoshop easier than slower computers, but this is perfectly normal. PC and Mac compatible. Highly recommended!
