Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8-Inch Pen TabletCustomer Review: A Must for Any Serious Photoshop User Summary: 5 Stars
First, this tablet is well designed and built to last a long time and very easy to use and to configure for your particular needs. Where I find this to be indespensible is in selecting objects in photoshop. If you've ever tried to outline a person, flower or any object using the mouse you know this job is tedious to say the least. However with the Wacom Tablet, precise outlining is so much easier. In fact, in PS, anywhere that you need to use a pen, pencil or brush, you will greatly appreciate using this product for its accuracy and time saved. The only complaint I have is that it does take up a fair amount of desk space. I haven't yet decided whether it should be on the right or left of the keyboard and mouse. Note that this table does not replace the mouse, but complements it (IMO). I am an amature photographer and I do spend considerable time working with photoshop. Definately worth the money. I'm glad I didn't get one of the bigger tablets 6x8 is plenty big.
Customer Review: Very Fine Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using a mouse as a drawing device for years. The tablet helps me work faster and with more freedom.
I decided to try a tablet because it might help speed up my work. Precise control with a mouse isn't a problem, it's just slow compared to pencils and pens. I currently draw using microsoft office tools for simple stuff and the GIMP ([...]) for the rest.
I bought the intous3 because a lesser tablet might under perform the mouse and I'd always wonder about it.
I plugged the intuos3 into my WinXP 'puter but did not load the drivers. It works well, but I'll probably load the drivers so I can program the buttons. It took about 20 hours until I did better with tablet than with mouse. It took some stubbornness to keep putting down the mouse and picking up the pen.
If I had it to do over again, I'd buy a bigger intous3. Regardless, I can work a bit faster now and can invoke more effects.
Customer Review: Must Have Summary: 5 Stars
I am not really a designer or illustrator, but I do use Photoshop often for my digital photography.
I had looked at getting a tablet for awhile, but was unsure if I could justify the purchase until I tried one out. At that time it became an easy decision.
The pen allows me to work in Photoshop alot more quickly, and with more precision, than I had before with rolling a mouse around, and with alot less hand strain. It really wasn't too difficult to get the hang of the pen.
If you use Photoshop often and doing alot of work with the mouse when you use Photoshop, you should consider getting a tablet. A bit expensive perhaps, but you really do get what you pay for. (If you just open Photoshop and press a couple of keys for auto-levels or auto-color, i.e., not real detailed work, you may not see any major benefits from using a tablet. In that case you may want to look a bit more into the power in Photoshop.)
Customer Review: High-end performance product! Summary: 5 Stars
I am primarily a painter, hoping to get into the digital aspect of illustration. I guess I may not be well-qualified to write a review of this item, as it is my first digital tablet. But I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. It was a bit spendy, even discounted, but now that I have one, I would definitely say it was well worth the price. I don't know how I ever got along without one.
I was worried that 6x8 would be a bit small, but it seems more than adequate for my needs so far. The Intuos 3 tablet is pressure-sensitive, measures the angle of your stylus to the surface, and includes the function buttons, scroll strip, and a mouse. My only disappointment is that there isn't an 'undo' button on the tablet for use with Corel Painter. Otherwise, aside from using 'Ctrl+Z', I would never have to use the keyboard.
I'm still psyched about this product. This is a great tablet for design students and illustrators!
Customer Review: Excellent Intuos3 Summary: 5 Stars
I would agree with all the other positives mentioned here. The mouse and pen and pad are well designed and constructed. The response and lightness for the pen is superb. The difference is so substantial that it may take a couple of hours of just practice exploring before one has grasped the Pen or mouse techniques which the smooth pad presents.Plug the pad's usb into the computer motherboard port in the back of the computer as informed by Wacom tech support, (to handle the complex math codes) which answered the call within seconds of dialing with a friendly tech support response. Just superb cursor experience with the Intuos3 installed. Can even type with the pen tool in one hand, try that with a mouse! A definite enhanced creative experience for designers, illustrators, production artists, et al who would appreciate an enhanced interface.Consider this an investment in one's graphic design work and physical health and well being as well:>
