Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8-Inch Pen TabletCustomer Review: WACOM is another way to spell QUALITY Summary: 5 Stars
I have used these tablets on a near daily basis for many years, and I have only ever been impressed. The Intuos 3 models are a bit more expensive then the entry level models, but if you plan on using this for more then just casual purposes, it is well worth it (seriously). The pen included with the Intuos 3 models is far more comfortable then the one with the entry models, and the hot-keys, when set up in a useful way, are amazingly convenient. Also, the 'feel' of the work surface is much nicer on these tablets over the lower end ones. The only flaw, if you can call it that, is that the cord housing where it meets the tablet eventually starts to break if you are not careful. Now I am talking after 3 years of daily use type scenario here, but it does happen. Also, the surface on both of my tablets is pretty worn, but the work area can be peeled off and replaced, so it's no big deal. Wacom has great customer support too, and will often send you free parts if you lose or break something! The mouse is the weakest item of this package; it does not slide around well at all- but if you are buying a tablet, why would you be using the mouse anyway... I think mine is still in the box even though I got my first one of these over 4 years ago.
There's really not much else to say... it works even better then you would really imagine, and is just an amazingly well made, durable, professional level product.
Customer Review: A Truly Stellar Tablet Summary: 5 Stars
I have nothing but praise for this amazing little tablet. I bought it mainly for use in conjunction with Photoshop CS2, but quickly discovered that its use extended far beyond the scope of a single program. It was only a matter of days before I packed away my standard optical mouse; and now this tablet is the only pointing device that I use with my computer. Simply put, I absolutely love it.
I use it for digital imaging, graphic design work, digital video editing & FX, and 3D animation. But on the other end of the spectrum, I also use it for such common everyday tasks as browsing the web, playing music in itunes, and working with Word documents.
You won't believe how much time this little device will save you - no matter what you are doing. It comes packaged with both a pen and a wireless mouse, so you're all set no matter what project lies ahead of you. I love the programmable buttons and the touch strips on the pad - what a great feature and timesaver!
Taks that proved tedious at best with a regular mouse will seem almost TOO easy with this tablet. And, as yet another bonus, it is far more comfortable to use than a normal mouse. Using it for long periods of time causes no discomfort whatsoever.
This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. You won't regret spending your money on it!
Customer Review: An Artist's opinion..:o) Summary: 5 Stars
I have wanted to get a graphics tablet for a few years now, but being the starving artist that I am has prevented this, and I wasn't too sure of the pads themselves having never seen one first hand.
but now that i've taken the "plunge" and bought one (6x8) i'm happy to say that I just love the pad, I wasn't sure of the overall size either, not knowing if it would be too big or too small, but the 6x8 is the perfect size for absolutely anybody who wants a graphics pad.
and given tht it's not meant to be a mouse replacement, i've found it difficulft to put the pen down since I got it, as it's just as quick, and even easier on the hand than a mouse that you have to have a death grip on when working in quick succession or even at a slower pace for lengthy periods of time on anything, except during games when a traditional mouse is needed or more or less required for it's superior rapid movement and accuracy/tracking.
and to mention the pressure sensitivity, that alone is a feature worth the tablet itself, and I couldn't have even concidered having a pad without it, given my craft.
I could write sooo much more on this pad but it's best to experience it for yourself.
all in all it's a wonderful piece of equipment, and I highly recommend it to anyone willing or in need of a graphics tablet..:o)
Customer Review: Excellent quaility Summary: 5 Stars
Most have already covered what a quality tablet this is. I am loving mine also. I've also replaced my daily mouse and mousepad to save space. The only gripe I have about the mouse is that with a normal mouse, I can have my arm/mouse at an angle, move "back" and the mouse will move down on the screen, however on this tablet, it would move sideways and down. Since there's no "eye" in the mouse, it only moves according to the location on the tablet. It takes some getting used to based on how I personally used a mouse, but it's no big deal.
Another thing to note is that the 6x8 pad autocalibrates to your monitor size for the pen so if you put the pen in the corner it will be at the corner of your screen, if you lift up and put it in the middle, it will be in the middle of the screen. The mouse however functions like a normal mouse...so you can lift and move it and the cursor will stay in the same place until you actually slide it over. This is my first tablet so that was an interesting peculiarity to me.
Also, I got a refurbished 6x8 intuos3 from adorama for half the price (well 169 free shipping no tax). It's refurbished by the factory and is packaged and looks exactly like it would brand new. You can't tell the diff except for the refurbished sticker on the box. At that price it's an absolute steal.
Customer Review: Can't go wront Summary: 5 Stars
This is the next to best tablet recommended to me by fellow digital artists. By losing six square inches (compared to the 6x9) you're not missing much. As I do not have a widescreen monitor this tablet works out great for me. It has never failed on me, and is light and easy to take with me where ever I go.
The inclusion of the mouse seems a bit silly as I have a wireless mouse already, but if you have a cabled mouse it may be very useful to you. I hardly ever use mine. The pen comes with multiple tips to give you options of "paper feel". I don't know how else to describe it. While I have not changed my tip since purchasing this tablet, I have experimented with the different tips and they feel nice. Almost like drawing on actual paper.
One minor complaint is the cable seems to get chewed up a bit at the base where it connects to the tablet. It has an option of either going in to a slot on the back or to the side of the tablet but does not stay in either slot and if you're like me and take this thing everywhere with you, you might be a little worried that the cable will eventually break or a least expose its wire.
Love this tablet though, and it's a $100 cheaper than getting the next size up which only offers an additional six square inches. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
