I love my 160gb version of this. The size of a pack of cards, doesn't need external power and has been perfectly reliable.
I don't have the extra USB adaptor, and have never needed it. Works perfectly on sony vaio sz series, powerbook g4, macbook and many other computers.
Only writing the review because I've been so happy with it. To me it works like a massive USB key.

I have more music and other media than will fit on my ipod. This hard drive is perfect for taking it all with me so I can update my ipod on-the-fly. It is quick, compact, and fits easily into my briefcase or carry-on. I can't speak to those who say it doesn't work on some computers. It works on all of mine - they are all USB 2.0 ports, including one I installed on my home computer.Customer Review: Great External HD

This HD is great for traveling with a laptop computer. Small, lightweight and classy looking too! I have seen some with issues in being powered by the USB connection, but have not had that problem myself. The speed of the drive is relatively fast - no problems from my perspective. This product is a great little investment. i'm not tech savvy and was just looking for a hard drive so i could move data around between my four computers. The price was great for 250 gigs - and it was way more than enough for what i needed it for. so far i've hardly even filled 10% of it. I also love how small and portable this thing is. I use this drive primarily for Macbook backup using Timemachine. After the initial backup, the subsequent backups take mere seconds, even after loading song and picture libraries. It is light, small and fits easily in a small pocket of a briefcase. It looks sharp, although I don't show it off. This drives functions great as a secondary drive or backup drive at home or on the go.
