Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of AT&T 993 Corded Phone, Black, 1 HandsetCustomer Review: Surprisingly good phone Summary: 5 Stars
This turned out to be a great phone. Was easy to figure out after a quick skim of the instructions and you can change pretty much all the settings you'd want to. The speakerphone works so well that I haven't tried a headset. The only time I've had problems with the speakerphone is when the other person has bad cell phone reception or when someone else picks up another phone at our house. Otherwise no one notices I'm on speakerphone. The buttons all work well, even the directional pad which looks a bit cheap. The LCD is easy to read, and there are a lot of useful indicator lights. They did a good job providing buttons for the important tasks and making the unimportant ones menu options.
Minor gripes:
The phone directory is alphabetized only by the first letter, which can cause some confusion.
The new call light lights up even after calls you've answered from this exact phone. That could be made smarter. It'd also be nice if the new call lights were also buttons that you could push to reset them/turn them off.
Customer Review: I love this phone! Summary: 5 Stars
This phone replaced a very old similar-style AT&T phone in our house that decided it wasn't going to play nice with our new Verizon FIOS service (high pitched static). I needed a good quality main phone with speed dial, caller ID and speaker phone for home use. The 993 phone is much better quality than I expected - they make things so cheaply these days so I was surprised. It's a good sturdy phone that's got a good weight to it. It was easy to set up and the manual was easy to follow. I like the big number buttons. Sound quality is good and speaker phone seems to work just fine. Caller ID box is bright and easy to read (you do have to get somewhat close to it). Scrolling through the call history is easy enough. We are using this phone with only ONE LINE even though it is a two line phone - and this wasn't a problem (I checked the online manual first to make sure it would work that way). I did a lot of research before deciding on the 993 - I am very happy with my purchase!
Customer Review: Nearly perfect 2 line phone Summary: 5 Stars
The 993 is nearly perfect if you want a straight forward 2 line phone that is easy to program, use, dial, and that is reasonably priced.
Pro's: Very nice design, tilted display, easy to read, easy to set up and program, keys are well laid out and distinctive and large, excellent use of color, zero confusion, total set up time under 5 minutes, automatic call timer, distinctive rings, you can set which line is primary, you can turn on or off call waiting light, call light, etc. Has data port and port for headset.
Con's: no associated portable phones (no intercom), while you can vary the volume of each phone line, the rings are distinct but not settable. Display is tilted, not tilt-able. Takes 9V battery (not included) rather than 2 AA. As I say, the cons are not much.
Overall, I'd rate this 4.9. The key is how long it lasts with heavy use... time will tell, but since it is AT&T I'm optimistic.
Customer Review: This Phone Is Wonderful For Any Small Business!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I just purchased this phone for a small business I'm starting out of my home office. After reading several reviews on the AT&T 993, I wasn't too sure what to expect since some people left very bad reviews. I've only had this phone for about 6 hours but so far I'm very pleased with it. Since most of my phone calls are answered through my speakerphone, I was very pleased to discover that the speakerphone on this particular model has exceptional quality. I can stand about 3 or 4 feet away from the phone and it sounds like I'm holding the phone up to my ear!!! It also has other great features that any small business could use including 2 lines, ability to put your customer on hold, caller id in case your customer doesn't leave a message, and 3-way conference calls. I would definitely recommend this phone to anybody who wants a professional-quality telephone without the high price.
Customer Review: Perfect 2 line phone! Summary: 5 Stars
My 2 line phones were dying and I needed to update them fast, but didn't want to spend a ton of money. I looked at the reviews on Amazon for this At&t 993 and decided to take a chance. Well, it arrived today and I fell in love with it immediately. I didn't bother to put in a 9v battery yet and even so, all the functions work on a/c power alone! I think it would lose the caller I.D. information if it were unplugged, so I'll splurge on a 9 volt battery. My old Sprint phone would die if the batteries were removed. The first thing I did was to program speed dial for each of my voice mails. What a simple task! The phone voice quality is fine, and the buttons are large which will make it easy for someone with less than perfect vision to dial a number. I'm very pleased and will be buying more soon.
