Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Videosecu PC to TV Converter VGA to RCA S-Video Mac Computer Laptop to Composite Video Switcher VGA2TV 1L7Customer Review: Awesome Product! Summary: 5 Stars
I was trying to find some way to hook up my computer to my tv so I would not have to watch tv on my computer. I no longer have cable (haven't had it for years) and have been tired on watching everything via the computer (sometimes you just want to lay on the couch and watch tv you know?). I decided to look into it and wanted to find the cheapest way to do this. And then I came across this device. So I read the reviews and decided to go ahead and try it. I have only used it a couple of times so far (just got it hooked up 2 days ago) and it actually works. I am extremely happy and look forward to once again laying on the couch and watching tv on days that I feel like doing so.
Items I bought to use this device are as follows (all from Amazon) :
USB/AC for MP3 Players + Cables To Go 40616 Velocity 3.5mm Stereo Male to Dual RCA Male Y-Cable (25 Feet, Blue) + S-Video Cable 25 ft. Gold Plated + Belkin F3H982-25 Pro Series High-Integrity VGA/SVGA Monitor Replacement Cable (25 ft.).
Total cost for all items including the converter $44.04 shipped. Considering the price of cable this is an excellent deal. I can now watch various shows from my computer but now watch them on my tv.
I will admit that at first I had issues plugging everything in. But after I figured it out it was easy. My tv which is an older tube model does not have a hook up for an S- Video cable. It only has the multi colored RCA cable hookups. But then I realized my VCR/DVD player has an S video hookup so I hooked it up through that. This is how I hooked it up:
S - video cable converter plus vcr/dvd player, Yellow rca cable converter plus tv (this cord was included), stereo rca cables (red and white) computer and tv, vga cable converter plus computer, usb cord (included) converter and usb/ac(you could hook it up to your computer instead but I used this ac since I didn't have a long enough cord).
I will admit way too many cables everywhere but until I am willing to spend the ridiculous amount of money on a cable bill this will have to do. I also feel that this would probably work best with a spare computer since I am sure constantly unhooking your VGA cable could probably in the long run cause issues. At least I would think so.
I did notice some issues with the tv screen going black if the cords or converter box was moved. Though I am not sure if it was just one of the cords or actually the converter box. I did notice that the yellow rca cord seems to come out kind of easy. Not a big deal though. I personally felt the picture quality was rather nice. I tried out a movie from Amazon and also from another website. Both looked great to me. This device is rather impressive. I just wish it was wireless. I will have to figure out a way to not have wires everywhere.
Overall I really like it and am so very happy that I found it.
*Update - I don't have to hook it up via vcr/dvd player after all. I didn't need the s - video cord apparently. The rca cords apparently do the trick.
Also I highly recommend buying a VGA SVGA Monitor Projector Splitter cable so you don't have to deal with bending your pins on your vga cord (from plugging and unplugging it). Though it will make your computer screen dimmer. Not a big deal to me though.
