Customer Review: Verbatim 95101 DVD-R Media - A Quality Choice!!

Verbatim CD-R and DVD-R Media are both high quality media that have played back fine in every device I have ever tried them in during the last 8 years. I have burned approx 400 music CD-Rs and 250 video DVD-Rs using Nero/four different DVD burners in three computers and have played back on many, many different devices with zero problems that I can attribute to the media. If you want reliable burning and then reliable playback in non-computer devices, Verbatim is a good way to go. I have also heard good things about Fugi media, but never tried them as Verbatim has always worked fine for me. I once was told the quality of dye in the Verbatim and Fugi is higher than in most, and burned media will also last longer. My Verbatim CDs from 2002 still play fine, as do all my DVDs (just can't remember exacty how old they are). Of course I don't expose them to the elements in a car (sun and temp extremes) and I try to take good care of them. These are about the best DVD-R disks on the market. The absolute best used to be made by Kodak and were true archival quality and backed by a 100 year guarantee. However when Kodak stopped making them I looked for a quality replacement and settled on Verbatim. I use these to make high quality back ups of family video as well as hard copies of all of my photos. Even with 3 digital backups on external drives, I just feel better having a physical copy as well.
They also burn excellent copies of DVDs if you want to make back ups of your disks--which I recommend since it is legal to make 'personal use' backups according to fair use law--and I hate losing a a DVD because it got scratched.
Overall DVD-R disks are a very inexpensive and quality data back up solution if you like the peace of mind of having physical copies of your video, photos, or other important files. Verbatim makes quality media, so you can't go wrong with these.

I barely find a coaster on the Verbatim DVD-R's. It is as par as with the Maxells, Sony's, TDKs and RiDatas that I have used before. Try to stay away from unknown brands that is kind of a hit or miss. The thing with DVD's or CD's is that when you find a bad one, it seems to be bunched into the same stack as they were manufactured at the same place and at the same time. My recommendation is not to burn DVDs or CDs using the maximum speed, the chance of a bad burn tend to be much much less if you use the next slower speed indicated on the media. Same as filling up the data capacity, 4200mb seems to work best for me as filling up the DVD to the edge may become problematic.

I received these by accident, I thought I was ordering lightscribe Verbatims but after checking my original order I see that I must have clicked on the wrong item and received these. I won't send them back as Verbatim, in my opinion, makes the best blank discs. I can't remember ever making a "coaster" using Verbatim and so even though I got these by my own mistake I know I will still use them all. You can't go wrong with Verbatim. Maybe I'll try to order the lightscribe version later but the more I hear about lightscribe the less enthusiastic I am about actually getting any so this may have been a happy accident.Customer Review: Cheap and reliable product. I got this item on sale (very cheap). I had only 1 of the 50 disks fail me, and that error probably was my fault. The key to getting quality copies burned is to avoid filling the disks to the capacity listed on the package. And just to be on the safe side, I always avoid running other programs or surfing the net when I'm burning a disk. The A/V quality deteriorates noticeably as you approach the media's storage limit. Verbatim has always been good to me and I would recommend the brand to any body.
