Really, Velcro is the best invention after the wheel and the toaster. Buy lots of strips in different lengths and use them for everything. String is so 18th century. Rubber bands die after less than a year. Plastic bins are inefficient and non-ecological.
I use these to hold stacks of old bills and bank records tightly together by year. I use these to hold extension cords in neat loops. I use these to keep all the electrical and data cables under the desks organized and out of the way. Buying cable ties in bulk from Amazon is WAY cheaper than five at time from your local electronics store.
Fast and re-usable with no tools. Still work well if you have your glasses off or the light in the garage won't turn on.
Hold the narrow end down with your thumb and wrap tightly with your other hand. "Offset" the overlap at a slightly angle so you don't cross over your own thumb. Then use the wider end as quick grab point for undoing. At least, that is my method.
I use these on gardening supplies and to organize camping and holiday supplies. Use them to hold lose parts (in a plastic bag) and instruction manuals onto items in storage. You can even use them to keep clothes tightly rolled for travel.
I don't work for 3M. This is not a commercial, even though it reads like one.
Have fun with Velcro. Really, someone aught to make a kid's game out of these things.
