Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Viore PLC7V95 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV with Built-in Tuner

Customer Review: Good TV except for channel up/down functionality
Summary: 4 Stars

This "portable" TV works well once you connect it to a better antenna than the one it comes with. I hooked it up to a Silver Sensor indoor antenna and was able to pick up most channels in the L.A. area.

The TV has a real program guide listing upcoming shows. Picture aspect control is quite good though it works on a global rather than on a per channel basis (unlike Zenith converter boxes). Picture quality is excellent for such a small TV, just don't expect the resolution of a larger HDTV.

My main gripe with this TV is that channel up and down control is pretty much useless. Instead of displaying channels in sequential order like in all my other TV and converter boxes, it jumps around all over the place. For instance, in L.A. we have channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and many more. If I am currently on channel 11 and press channel up it goes to channel 7.2 instead of 13. If I channel up again, it goes to channel 7.1, press it again and it goes to 7.3. Going channel down from 11 gives me 44.3 instead of channel 9. Tried re-scanning to see if this solved the problem with no luck.

Other than for this idiosincrasy, I am quite happy with this TV and, for the price, it can't be beat.

Customer Review: nice portable ATSC TV and media player
Summary: 4 Stars

I had originally purchased the Audiovox FPE709, another 7" ATSC portable TV. I returned it and purchased this unit, since it has an SD slot and USB connector. Battery life is crappy, at least playing movies - have not timed it while watching TV. Like others have said, it loses track of channels when you use it from different places; need to rescan when you turn it on unless you use it from the same spot all the time (i.e. keeping it on your desk or nightstand). Picture quality is a little better on this unit (mainly due to more horizontal resolution), but sound was MUCH better on the Audiovox. The Audiovox has a whip antenna, which provides better TV reception (it also came with the little magnetic antenna like this unit, which I did not try). Plays Xvid encoded videos with mp3 sound from a 16GB SDHC card. No way to pause, fast forward or rewind. Doesn't work with ac3 encoded sound. General build quality and appearance is good. If you want the ability to play mp3 and videos, but this unit. Otherwise, buy the Audiovox or one of its clones (like the Axion).

Customer Review: Very pleased
Summary: 4 Stars

Got this for $79 shipped last week while it was on sale. I was a bit worried at first that I would not receive reception for all the local HD channels with the packaged antenna but living in Northern New Jersey 5 miles away from NYC, I am able to get all the channels except CBS. Didn't realize each network like NBC had about 3 HD channels broadcasting.

The screen is pleasantly big enough for placement on a desk or inside the car (although you cannot move the antenna in order to receive HD reception).

The only disappointment is that the SD card slot is not SDHC (SD High Capacity so nothing over 2GB is supposed to work). I plugged in my 4GB microSD card into a SD adapater and this TV recognized my card. Was able to view pictures but not videos. The device stalled after trying to play a AVI/MP4 file. Haven't tried a 2GB SD card since I don't own one.

If it accepted SDHC, I'd give this 5 stars.

Customer Review: Best deal available
Summary: 4 Stars

For the price, this is the best portable TV deal out there.
Pros:
1)Nice portable size & weight
2)Great HD TV screen
3)Video Inputs, SD Card reader, USB input

Cons:
1)Battery life ~ about 1.5 hours but I'm usually not away from power that long. If you need more time perhaps a car charger would help.
2)No carrying case
3)Video inputs are 1/8" plugs not RCA as is typical. The cables can be found at various electronics retailers however.
4)No HDMI input. Not a big deal but worth noting.

The biggest "pro" of this unit for me are the SD&USB inputs. You can use this TV as a photo viewer! You can also view movies! Just convert your DVDs and store them on a card or flash drive. Software is not included but I found lots of options on the web for purchase that will do the job. It takes a little fiddling with your software but once you get it, WOW!

Customer Review: nice unit for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I just received my Viore TV and was instantly impressed with the quality. Nice picture, good color range, great audio (with ear buds), played everything I threw at it.
One quirk I found was that if you set the date and time, then turn the tv off using the slide switch...then back on...your clock defaults to 1999 again. No memory battery? What gives? Oh well, I dont need that anyway.
I also was not expecting such a hefty and bulky product. I dont mean that in a bad way... good quality...just dont expect a tiny TV made of flimsy plastic. This TV is well made. It charged up in less than 30 minutes.
A real steal at $99 usd.
ANOTHER THING. I bought this through Amazon. I got a great deal. I had it shipped standard. It was at my door two days later...really fast shipping. Thanks Amazon!!!
