Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Viore PLC7V95 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV with Built-in TunerCustomer Review: Best portable for the price--period. Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this portable tv from Viore so that I could catch a little of the football games on Sundays at work. As others have mentioned, there is a plastic film covering the entire face of the tv when you take it out of the box. It was pretty difficult to find the edge and peel it off, but once I did the front of the tv was immaculate. If it takes you a while to find it, don't worry it's there. Make sure you go all the way to the edges of the case, not just the screen. I wasn't sure how good the reception was going to be, but let me tell you--it was amazing!! The picture from the HD stations looked as good as it does on my 40" Samsung LCD flat panel that's mounted on the wall in my living room. That's even more impressive considering that this little guy isn't an HDTV, to my knowledge. The autoscan is easy to use (at the end of the menu page--scroll all the way to the right), and it picked up about 20 channels in my area, depending on the antenna orientation. Based upon my experience, you receive the best signal when the external antenna's wire is stretched out as far as it will go. In other words, get the antenna as far from the tv as possible, as mentioned in earlier reviews. I also found that elevating the antenna helped quite a bit. I think it's because there are less objects in the way of the signal as you get up higher, generally. If you can't get a station that you want, try moving the antenna a bit and autoscan again. May take a few tries. If you live in the city, you shouldn't need anything besides the provided external antenna. Didn't try out the battery for life, but that's not a concern for my purposes. The kick stand on the back works fine for viewing angle, in my opinion. Haven't tried the USB port or SD card reader, either. The digital transition is the best thing to happen to tv since HD. No more snowy, fuzzy pictures. It's either crystal clear, or nothing. Anyway, at this price, you can't beat this tv. You won't be disappointed if you buy one.
Customer Review: Lucked out Summary: 5 Stars
I lucked out in two respects. While not thinking of getting a portable TV, I just happened upon the Amazon.com sale on the unit that was in the mid forties including S/H. This was more than this old bargain hunter could stand. Upon receiving it and using it while being charged (Note I live in the real boonies and with out cable or a thirty foot tower you are lost. I tried the included antenna and got exactly what I thought I would get, absolutely nothing so I hocked up to the BrightHouse cable and whalla )I found it to have a beautiful picture equal to or better than anything I have in the house. The sound, like other reviews, is passable but greatly improved with the use of a set of earphones from my iPod. Battery life after a full charge was exactly two hours. I have not tried the USB/SD. All in all I am very happy with the portable TV that I had no intention of buying.
In passing from the time I saw the Amazon.com add and ordering (app.4 hours) I read every review on this portable and every other one I could find and selected the Viore ATSC Digital PLC7V95 because it rated app. 3.5 as did the better of the portables. Viore also had a couple of extras that none of the others had (USB/SD Input for photo and MP3 playback) and at Amazon.com's much lower price.
So like I said I just lucked out getting a fantastic little TV at a fantastic price. Hope you do the same.
Customer Review: Love this TV w/ SD card reader Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking to replace an older portable TV that had stopped working with the digital transition so I decided to purchase this unit. I have been pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. I really like that it has a built in SD card reader and the ability to play media from a USB drive. The antenna is external and has a magnetic bottom and seems to work well. I noticed that the number of channels I was able to receive really depended on my physical location. I am sure would be able to receive additional channels if I purchased a better antenna but the one that came in the box seems to do a good enough job for me. I would recommend this unit to others and I am glad I decided to purchase this particular device. There are a lot of 7" TVs to choose from but this unit looked the most attractive and I seemed to have lucked out.
Couple of Pros and Cons:
Pros
Picture quality is really nice, SD card reader, external antenna ( I was told by a buddy that the units with an attached antenna do not get nearly as good of a signal), remote control, pretty easy to scan for channels, battery life was about 1.5 hours (not too shabby).
Cons
I did not like how the cable jack on the side was recessed. This is not a huge deal but it makes it a little difficult to access.
Conclusion: Good picture and nice little portable TV
Customer Review: Steal of a Deal!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this unit and I wanted to share a couple of observations with those of you trying to decide what to buy.
- Picture quality was really good
- I like the USB and SD card reader functions (this is really nice and I didn't see this option on the other 7" units on Amazon)
- Remote control is nice not high end but it works just fine
- Sound was pretty good. I really didn't expect much but I was impressed
- You have to remove the plastic protective film from this unit. I noticed a couple of other customers complained about scratched screens and I thought I might have the same problem but when I took a good look at the TV I noticed the protective plastic cover and once I removed this everything was good to go. They probably should have put a little tab that said pull here or something.
- I was able to get several channels so I thought the reception was pretty good
I gave it 5 stars. Good little TV and it looks like it will do what I need it to do. Oh yeah, make sure you go to the menu and scan for channels. You have to do this in order to find channels using the antenna. I hate reading manuals but I really didn't have a choice when I first set this bad boy up.
Customer Review: I like this little television Summary: 5 Stars
While I did not purchase this TV from Amazon I wanted to comment about it. I've only had this for a couple of days but I am pleased with it. I live 25 miles outside of Nashville, TN and in the past, when using an antenna on the house televisions, I had trouble pulling in some stations. This was especially true when trying to pull in CBS, a major broadcast station. With this TV, when I placed the antenna near a window, I've been able to pull in 17 - 19 channels. I like the multiple functions on the remote control. I bought this TV to use this summer while I spend a week on a college campus in Colorado. I am sure I will have few, if any issues with its use. I am not concerned about the battery life since I will use AC unless there is a power outage. In my area power outages are few and far between. When they have occurred, they lasted a very short time. Rarely more than 10 - 15 minutes (thankfully).
Update of my Review: I used this television for a week while staying in a dorm on a Colorado campus. When using the antenna I got 2 to 6 channels, depending on its position. However, once I plugged it in to the cable port, I had the 60 plus stations that students received when using larger televisions.
