Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Verbatim 95310 8.5GB 6x Double Layer DVD+R DL Discs (20pk Spindle)Customer Review: excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I'm using a Sony DRU-820A burner. In the past I've always used Memorex dual layers without a problem. Memorex 8.5Gb/ 2.4x DVD+R Dual Layer (25-Pack Spindle) Then I tried their newer dl's Memorex 32025732 DVD+R 8x Double Layer 50 Pack Spindle and had nothing but problems. So it was time for a new brand. I've heard nothing but good things about verbatim, and these disks don't disappoint. They do not seem cheap or flimsy like the memorex ones. They burn at 6x with my drive, and that is excellent for a double layer disk. I'm burning my 5th disk from the spindle now, and so far no coasters, no layer break issues or any other kind of problem. These are great disks and I will always use them from now on.
Customer Review: Perfect...No Coasters Summary: 5 Stars
I use this product to record TV programs (mostly sporting events) from my DirectTV DVR, where I save them until I'm ready to transfer them onto DVD. I need to be ultra picky about quality because these recorded images will forever more be projected onto a 92" screen (which exposes any & all flaws to the max). My objective, then, is to achieve superior playback of programming that is more than 2 hours each.
So far, I've gone through an entire 20-DVD spindle with zip, nada, zero defects.
Previously, for programs having run times of less than 2 hours, I'd been tempted to use single-layer blank DVD's, but at only $1.40 per blank Verbatim DVD, why risk or settle for inferior quality? A no brainer in my book.
UPDATE: Feb. 25, 2009 - I've now gone thru 5 sets of these 20-DVD spindles without a single failure.
Customer Review: Can't beat the quality for these Made in Singapore discs Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these on June 2nd and the ones I received were in fact Made in Singapore. I've been using these Verbatim DL discs for a while now to backup photos and data from my computer and out of the last 50 I used, not one single coaster. I know that sometimes even after you back up your photos and data with no errors, when you try to access it you may get a corrupt data error. I'm happy to say that I have not yet encountered any errors yet either. I love these and will never buy any other brand!
p.s. And I bet the person who marked this and the previous couple of reviews saying these discs work great as "not useful" probably is bitter about the bad batch or the Made in India version they got. As I said, as of early June, these are the Made in Singapore versions and they are the best Dual Layer discs out there.
Customer Review: Simply the best Summary: 5 Stars
I can't say with any degree of technicallity what burner I'm using but I've burned these on 3 computers (mostly using DVD Decryptor) and have never had a failure in over a hundred burns. There were some slightly defective copies in the beginning when I tried to decrypt with DVDD and burn with Nero (movie menus sometimes didn't work) but once I started burning with the decrypting software that cleared right up. At the moment my computer is a new Lenovo dual core running Windows Vista with the stock burner and it works great. I don't know why people disparage an entire manufacturer because they can't use a product correctly but if you check the numbers you'll see these work for a lot more people than not. There might be garbage involved somewhere but I don't think it's the discs, and certainly not all of them.
