Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of V-MODA Vibe In-Ear Noise-Isolating Metal Headphone (Gunmetal Black)Customer Review: A bit pricy but so far, worth it. Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using these for the last 3 weeks and so far am rather pleased with them. Previously, I was using Sony earbuds of a similar design but there's a few nice differences with these V-Modas. The included leather carrying pouch is nice as it keeps them from tangling much when I pack them up to go to and from work. The cables are wrapped in nylon so they don't seem to retain a memory of being coiled like the rubber of my Sony earbuds did. Also, the length of the wires from both buds is equal (unlike my old ones) and so I never feet like they're being tugged out of one ear. The sound quality is about the same as my old headphones (good bass and reduction or ambient noise). I use them as part of an in-ear monitor system when playing drums as well and they do a good job of preserving my hearing by significantly reducing the drum noise. I know there were a few issues in the past with wires coming loose from the plug but I purchased these direct through Amazon and received the newer version (as pictured). I feel like the extra money was certainly worth it as I'm very satisfied with every aspect of these earbuds.
*update* 3/1/2011 - I had an issue with the 1/8" connector about a year ago but I contacted V-Moda and they sent me a brand new pair which have been working perfect ever since despite being used on an almost daily basis. They included new rubber cups but I have not had to replace them yet. They haven't shrunk or worn out like the cups for my Sony earbuds always did.
Customer Review: Tried countless earbuds...these are amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
Well...I am no true audiophile, but I am a regular guy who LOVES to listen to great quality sound out of my iPod. I run about 7,000 songs through my iPod classic and have (with that many differet songs) a HUGE variety of music to choose from.
I tried Shure E2cs, Etymonics, Sennheisers and Sonys. I was frustrated by the lack of comfort and also the lack of depth in the sound. I read review after review after review and unfortunately trying on earphones on-line is like trying on shoes on-line...you just can't tell based on peoples reviews. Everyone has different preferences in their sound and the desired response they are looking for in their phones. Well...I finally found a pair that hit the nail on the head.
These things are comfortable and lightweight. Don't let the "metal" look they have fool you...they are quite light and fit in my ear beautifully. And the sound...they hit everything with power that I could imagine I would want to hear. Clear highs and solid and full mids are accentuated by powerful and confident lows.
Everything from Jushua Bell playing violin to things like Madonna and Justin Timberlake saving the world in 4 minutes and literally EVERYTHING in between...they fit the bill for me and I would replace them in a heartbeat if I lost the pair that I am using today.
Customer Review: high quality, lightweight, great fit for small ears Summary: 5 Stars
I have had mine for over 2 months. No problems yet. Fantastic sound quality, great fit in my small ears, and unobtrusive light-weightedness such that they don't pull out or move around.
Extra bonus is the fabric-knitted wire covering, rather than rubber-coated wire covering. Normally, my earphones don't last long because my cat loves to chew the wires. However, she hasn't made a move on these yet -- not interested in the texture. So, for pet owners with pets like mine, these are a fantastic buy even if the wiring gives out eventually, as many people remark in their reviews. Already exhibiting longer lifespan than most other earphones I've ever owned.
I've been buying incredibly cheap earphones for years and go through a few a year due to the cat. They are always a terrible fit with heavy buds or wires that pull the buds out of ideal ear placement. Before going cheap, I gave up on trying to find a good set of pricier earphones, because of the same problems. It is so difficult to get a comfortable fit in the ear, and especially tragic because my cat would chew through it anyways during my one moment of inattention. I just opted for cheap earbuds for way too long. I'm so glad a I took a chance with these.
These are worth it all around. I will buy them again.
Customer Review: Good with bass reducer Summary: 5 Stars
Adding to many other reviews, basically they talk about the different generations of vibe because v-moda is crazy and will modify their models without any notification, so if you buy headphones by the same model number/name a year from now, chances are they will be different. But I just got a pair, and they seem to have pretty awesome sound quality. The sound quality is comparable to the Dr.Dre Beats I had prior to this, the cord is pretty nice, the one thing I don't like about it is that the bass is overwhelming unless you listen to rap all the time. But if you put on bass reducer for equalizer it sounds great. The bass is still more powerful than most IEMs, but they sound really nice as well.
And I don't get the poor mic quality, there is no mic? So I have no clue what they're talking about. They work fine and are in good shape for me, so whatever generation Amazon is selling, or at least my seller I suppose, has good quality, design, and sound quality. Overall I think they're really good for the price as the Beats are 179$ and the difference in sound is not too great, though I suppose they are both IEMs. I bought these for 30$ though, I don't think they're really worth it for 60$...if you're going for that high a price might as well pay 10 more bucks and get the highly acclaimed Klipsch S4s.
Customer Review: Excellent Product, Especially for Runners Summary: 5 Stars
I couldn't wait to get an iPod for Christmas to make my time at the gym more enjoyable. (If I *must* exercise, I should be entertained while doing it, right?) But the first time I ran on the treadmill with the earbuds that come with the iPod, I spent most of my workout trying to keep the earbuds from falling out. Plus every time I moved my arms, I was pulling the cord tighter, compounding the problem.
The V-Moda Vibe is a dream-come-true. The Vibe has three settings (S-M-L) so that the earbuds will fit snugly but comfortably. I ran for 35 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and never once felt like the earbuds were in any danger of slipping or falling. (I noticed that the cord for the Vibe is a little longer than the cord that comes with the iPod; only an inch or two, but that little bit makes a huge difference.)
The sound is superb and powerful. While I was listening to The White Stripes, it felt like Jack White had grabbed me by the shoulders and knocked me around...in a good way.
If you listen to your iPod while exercising (although I don't recommend you do this outside a gym), the V-Moda Vibe is essential, well worth the investment.
