Customer Review: These are great iPhone earphones!

I've had my eye on these earphones ever since I bought my iPhone back in September of '07 but at the time they didn't have the track-advance/pause/answer call button and I wasn't going to drop a C-note for a set of headphones that didn't support that feature.
Well, with the introduction of the new "NERO" model to the Vibe Duo line, that's no longer an issue. The button/mic blister-bead works perfectly. Although the button itself can be a little difficult to find with your fingers at first, due to the microphone bead being cylindrical instead of "flat" like the Apple pinch-control. Nonetheless, the button (once you get your thumb on it) has a good feel and a positive tactile "click" when pressed, not unlike the Apple pinch-control.
I also really like the cloth-covered cords. They're highly tangle resistant and don't telegraph nearly as much physical noise as I was lead to expect. Personally, I think because these phone seal your ear canal when in use that it simply makes you more aware of any resonances in the equipment. (Eating Grape-nuts cereal with things things in would be deafening!) But, if you use the included cable management lapel clip you can relieve the tension on the wires cuts out almost all the transmitted noise. (Remember: soup-can telephones won't work when there is slack in the line.)
The build quality on the phone is easily equal to the iPhone itself. Need I say more? The phones themselves are all-metal; including the knurled part and the back of speaker driver. The only rubber on them is in the silicone on the ear-caps and on the boots where the wires join the earphones or the jack.
Audio quality is simply phenomenal. Now, I'm not sure if this is psychological or not, but according to advice I read in other reviews I plugged the 'phones into iTunes and left it on shuffle play overnight at a medium volume to "break in" the speakers and... maybe I'm crazy, but I think it actually did make them sound better! YMMV.
Now, because of the knurled diamond etch pattern (and the fact they're all metal) I am loath to put these headphone into the same pocket with my iPhone for fear that they'll scratch the heck out of my iPhone. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the original Gold-Lamé pouch material has been replaced by black leatherette! Now I no longer have to worry about being seen hauling out a little headphone pouch that looks like Ziggy Stardust's change purse!
Bottom line: 5 stars!
