There's a handful of product out there that advertise themselves in various ways. Most, however, fall short on their claims. These earphones are the exception.
The Bass Freqs live up to their name. The bass on these is insane (I mean insane in a good way). Bass lovers will fall in love with these earphones at the moment they put these on.
Now, sound quality is pretty impressive. Obviously, the bass frequencies are increased, but the bass doesn't undermine the mids and highs. The strong bass and the crisp mids and highs allow for a better listening experience. I listen to pretty heavy Rock, and, personally, the Bass Freqs deliver potent sound that rival the sound other expensive headphones offer. The downside of the heavy bass is that if you're not a bass addict, you will most likely not like these. These earphones are for the people who enjoy deep bass. If you're a person that likes earphones that have balanced low, mid, and high frequencies, you will possibly not enjoy the quality of these.
Seeing as the audio quality is superb, the most important decision to make before buying these is choosing the color. V-Moda offers a pretty modest array of colors to choose from (enough to match your music player). The style of these earphones is pretty slick, and it will match with your music player quite nicely. However, I was surprised at the small size of the earphones. For me, the size of the earphones displayed in the Amazon page is deceiving. Nevertheless, the small size makes these earphones extra portable.
Finally, the Sound Isolation. I own some Noise Canceling Headphones which basically produce white noise in order to drown out external noise. With that technology, battery power is necessary. However, these earphones do not require batteries to turn down external noise. The earpieces go deep inside your ear so perfectly that the tight seal drowns out the noise around you. Compared to my Noise Canceling Headphones, the Bass Freqs make an excellent job in blocking out noise, allowing you, the listener, to enjoy the powerful bass. I would recommend trying out all the ear pieces (which are included) in order to determine which ear pieces give you the best sound isolation and ultimately the best sound quality.
I am not disappointed so far by these. They're an extremely great product.
[edit] These don't last long. The cables are thin and since the phones use a straight plug, damage to the phones takes place to a higher degree. I've had more luck with the V-Moda Vibes, which are nearing a year of use (albeit, after extensive use of tape, crazy glue, and heat-shrink tubing to keep the phones from falling apart). If you want to make the phones last longer, avoid wrapping the phones around your mp3 player as that pretty much creates tension (tension that later translates to broken cans). A use of a pouch is recommended.

I've had these for over a few months and I can safely say that they are the best earbuds that I've ever had. Compared to the cheap KOSS and Sony earbuds that you can get at your local Wally World, these will bring up your standard to a whole new level.
After looking at reviews here and especially on CNet, I decided to snag these. The package comes with silicone fittings, differently-sized, to accommodate most if not all people... and of course, the earbuds themselves.
I threw them on and tested them with my computer and with my newly-purchased Creative Zen Stone Plus.
Keep in mind that I don't consider myself too much of an audiophile, but more of a quasi-type. =)
I was drowned in sound with Call of Duty 4. The bass with these earbuds is simply amazing. I could FEEL shots, explosions, people yelling back and forth, and it was simply great. I let my brother try it out and he was blown away. It was pretty awesome, to tell the truth. Great if you have a computer with a decked-out speaker system that you can't use because of the neighbors. =p
Listening to music casually was a pleasant experience also. They weren't kidding when they geared these earbuds towards enhanced bass quality... these aren't your average, tinny earbuds that have poor excuses for reproducing bass. As mentioned above, they do a great job of putting out bass from just about any genre of music WHILE retaining quality of voice, guitar riffs, and anything else.
Now... for bad things...
Apparently the cable for these earbuds are shorter than average, but I never had a problem. They also seem VERY fragile, and you'll know what I mean when you snag a pair of these... but I haven't severed them (yet). Also, these earbuds are very easy to put in... and easy to take out. They fit pretty snugly, but I apparently have the tendency to whip them out of my ears if I snag the wire on anything, which is why I wear the wire under my clothes now. Also, one big bad (or good) thing is that it has passive noise isolation... which means that you're going to be able to submerge yourself into your music, but you're going to have trouble hearing things around you with them on. (Think of having ear plugs on, then add your tunes.) I can't say that this is too much of a bad thing... it merely muffles most softer sounds. (i.e. I can't hear much of my own dishwashing, but I will hear silverware clattering.)
In short, I would highly recommend these earbuds. I have no idea what I'm missing with Shure-branded earbuds, nor will I ever spend such an exorbitant amount for them, but these will keep most if not all users happy. For $40, it's VERY hard to beat.

I bought these earbuds about a year ago hoping to get better sound out of my MP3 player during workouts - CNet's glowing reviews convinced me that they would do the trick. After using them for running and biking a whole lot, I can honestly say I will have a hard time looking at any other earbud for again. The sound is simply amazing! I am a serious car audio enthusiast, and these earbuds have all the qualities of a very tight car system with 2 12" subs. I can't believe how well they isolate noise, the bass response blows everything else I've used out of the water, and the sound is incredibly warm, yet detailed. I can hear literally every subtlety even in 128 kbps MP3's. The fashion part was not important to me, but they look really good too.
Comfort is not an issue at all with these headphones - I didn't even think about it in my original review, because they just fit so naturally with the right earpiece. For those that don't love bass as much as I do, you may not like these headphones. I have never found a pair of headphones that satisfied my need for the low end until I bough these - you can literally feel the bass in your skull - like a couple of big subwoofers pounding you. I listen to all types of music - rap, rock, electronic, even classical, and the Bass Freq's are always faithful. I haven't found a type of music yet that doesn't work on these headphones from tight metal kicks to the thick synths in drum and bass. I am so happy ever time I put these on because I feel like I am truly experiencing every aspect of the music I am listening to.
I have not used any of the "other" $100+ earbuds on the market, but these sound better than the pair of Sennheisers I use for recording in my home studio. Reset your EQ and prepare for perfect, accurate sound. Also, unlike $10 earbuds, everyone around you doesn't have to listen to your music while you enjoy it. They are almost silent (to everyone else) even when pumping in your ears. I have had one issue with the earbuds, when riding my bike I've accidentally got an arm caught in the wire and ripped the headphones out of my ears. I actually broke one speaker in half, and had to superglue it back together, but it still works perfectly. I might superglue the other, just to preempt any possible damage.
When I do finally destroy these ones, I will not hesitate to spend another $25. As far as I can tell, these are the best value in the entire earbud category - and rival the sound you will get out of a really nice set of surround speakers. I've highly recommended these to everyone who has asked me about headphones.

First I should let you know I REALLY NEED good ear buds and good sound. Much more than most people. I work in a saw mill. I run really loud, really boring machinery all day and if it weren't for my "tunes" and my hearing protection I would be insane and deaf. Not necessarily in that order.
I love my music. I NEED my music. So I have bought maybe 20+ sets of ear buds to go with my iPod over the past 4 years.
I even spent almost $200 on the Opera wireless set (from a company in the UK) only to find out they are more of a pain in the ass than the wired buds. Until someone invents a workable and wearable "Kleer" style wireless system, we are all stuck with wired buds. Sad to say.
I bought the V-Moda brand buds twice at Costco. They were nice, for the price. But I never felt they really delivered the "full spectrum" I missed and even needed especially when running gang saws. Lower frequencies seem to "block" the 120 db gang saw output and its piercing frequencies and "relax" my poor ears. (I admit a purely subjective claim based on more than 1,000 hours running gang.)
When the V-Moda Bass arrived I used the default ear bud inserts and didn't notice much difference between the regular V-Moda and the Bass Freq. (I did "side by side" tests sitting at my computer.) I didn't feel the fit was right so I upped the size of the inserts and it was surprising. To say the least. I listened for about two hours to songs I know by the note and was amazed at the range of these Bass Freq buds. I couldn't wait to get to work. I even rescheduled a gang run just to see how the buds performed. The crew thought I had lost my mind. That insane thing again.
So to end a long story with a short ending, I am loving these buds. I wish they had fatter cords and I worry that they will die any moment, but they haven't yet. Heck, they have lasted longer than the two other V-Moda sets I bought at Costco that had fatter cords. And if these do fail because I beat the crap out of them, then I will buy another pair of them without hesitation until someone writes a review like mine, from similar circumstances and recommends a wireless set-up that finally meets my "fantasy ear-bud dream".
You cannot go wrong with these. I defy anybody to prove otherwise.
Customer Review: v-moda bass freq VS. sennheiser cx-300

If you are looking for a reasonable set of ear buds to go with your new mp3 investment, the v-moda bass freq's are a good choice. I own sennheiser headphones of various models and have always liked the way they sounded and still do. My favorites are the cx-300, which is what I want to compare the vmoda's to, as they are closest in price and performance.
Let me say first and foremost that the cx-300's sound brighter, the treble sounds crisper, and overall sound a tad more precise than the v-modas do. However, in the bass and midrange the vmodas, are incredible! Nice warm highs and mind numbing bass. If you listen to metal, rock, hip hop, or pop, the bass freq's are fun as hell to listen to. If you like classical, piano, and the other mentioned genres, the senns may suit your needs a little better. Neither of these are audiophile earbuds, and couldn't be at there price range, so if you are a stickler for perfection, look elsewhere. For the other 97% of us that want good sound quality, and want something that gives those goosebumps, when we hear that certain beat. Either of these make a great choice. Neither lack in the bass department, but the vmodas NEVER distort at the lowest frequencies. The senn's do on occassion. You can actually make the vmodas sound crisper with a slight adjustment of the e.q. in your player and both of these phones sound similar. It's all just a matter of preference, but you can't go wrong with either set.
As far as reliablity goes, I can see the senns outlasting the vmodas as the senns look a little sturdier than the v's do. Only time will tell and I will update if something happens. I like the fact the v's come with a silicone wrap to neaten things up, but a case would have been even better. They both fit nicely in my ears and come with different size silicone, for different size ears.
To sum it all up...
If you are looking for a decent earbud look no further than either of these 2 sets. If you are a bass junkie, go for the vmodas. If you want overall good sound go for either one. At $25, they are both a steal and you will not be disappointed at all. Trust me, I have tried everything and I just think paying hundreds for headphone's is insane. Unless of course you are an audio purist, than by all means. Do what you gotta do.
