I bought this to go with the new Uniden TRU9485 base station (which is an excellent set).
The TWX977 is well built, a little bit larger than the TCX905 handset that came with the base unit but certainly not too big. The keys are backlight and the orange backlight display is easy to read. The keys have a nice solid feel and the keyboard layout is practical. This phone has all the same features as the TCX905 except there is no jack for a headphone.
The speakerphone in this handset is very functional and already has been used and useful. It is easy to switch to and from speakerphone without disturbing the conversation. The speakerphone is clear and loud; very handy to have it on every handset. The regular speaker that you put up to your ear could be louder but it isn't bad.
We will use the TWX977 waterproof, floating handset outside by the pool and spa. I'll keep this one in the garage so I can use it with dirty or wet hands, then move to the back yard when needed. We filled the sink and sure enough it floats. It can go to 9 foot depth so will be safe around our 8' deep pool. I have a Uniden VHF radio for my Personal Watercraft and the VHF has had a lot of salt water baths and it is still working fine after a year so I think Uniden knows how to design waterproof equipment.
All in all I am very pleased with the TWX977. It too has a belt clip which will be handy for outdoor use when gardening, washing the car, or other outdoor activities.
