I got this scanner for my birthday and I love it. After going from a 16 channel scanner to this, I was missing a lot. It's not that difficult to program in your frequencies. You can pick up a lot with this scanner. Weather, police, marine, truckers, emergency, etc. It has everything you need in a scanner for the price. No need to spend more. The Bearcat BCT8 is a great scanner for anyone wanting an analog scanner. It's easy to program and operate once you find the frequencies and talk group IDs you need. The volume and sound quality is good. Channel rejection is very good in keeping adjacent channels from bleeding over. I have had scanners for years. starting with crystals and then onto programable. I've always liked bearcat and lately it has been hard to find one that you can program directly without paying big bucks. this one certainly works well. I ordered this scanner for my husband and he loves it. We were able to find the codes online for our police, fire, and ambulance here in our town as well as the sheriff's department in our county. I purchased this scanner and an outdoor antenia. The scanner works great. A friend set it up for me in about ten minutes. My only problem is with the antenia ***** it is not needed at all. I never even took it out of the box. The scanner is great with the window antenia it came supplied with.
