Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Uniden Bearcat BCT8 BearTracker Warning System with 800 MHz TrunkTracker IIICustomer Review: Uniden BCT8 Trunking Scanner- Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
The Uniden BCT8 Trunking Scanner took away all the frustration I had attempting to setup two different Radio Shack scanners. First I purchased the new Pro-107 iScan trunking scanner and was not able to get it programmed to receive a simple EDACS SCAT system. I took it back to Radio Shack and exchanged it for the PRO-164 and still, it would not receive the EDACS SCAT system of my local police. I contacted about 7 different Radio Shacks and no one could offer any assistance so I returned the PRO-164. Both the Radio Shack scanners advertise easy of operation! Run as fast and as far from the Radio Shack store as you can, then go buy a Bearcat Scanner and have some fun.
I received the BCT8 Trunking Scanner and within less then 10 minutes, following very simple instructions, was listening to the EDACS SCAT frequency of my local police. The audio quality is excellent and I would recommend this product to everyone.
I am also very pleased with the excellent service I receive each and every time I make a purchase from Amazon!
Thanks
Dave
Customer Review: FOR THE PRICE, this is a GREAT Scanner Summary: 5 Stars
My wife ordered this scanner for father's day, and she got it three days after she ordered it from Amazon. I plugged it in, switched it on, and got it going right away. FOR THE PRICE of this scanner, I am very pleased with it. Great sound, bright LED display, simple control panel. The only drawback for me is that the manual is not very helpful, but this is more of a problem with the user (namely, me) than it is Uniden. I also found the software setup more difficult that I expected - don't expect it to be like adding a "plug and play" component to your computer, like a printer, for example. If you are new to scanner's, I have to recommend this as an affordable, high quality unit, but you'll need to Google information about how to set it up in order to maximize its capabilities, and I found YouTube had some great informative videos on the BCT8. There is also a magazine subscription included in the box which I may subscribe to in order to help me get the most out of my new scanner.
Customer Review: Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
A great value in a scanner, I couldn't believe the traffic I heard, {depending on where you live} pilots to the tower, weather reports, tons of police action, EMS and fire depts engaged in all kinds of incidents,I heard slot techs and hostesses in the casinos, security even government enforcers tracking and detaining wanted felons! also heard railroad traffic!
the scanner is already set and ready to go to pull in all the action in your neck of the woods, plus more advanced features to trunk track HWY patrols and other agencies, it even has the frequencies for what you want to hear right on top of the unit for quick reference,
and like all uniden "bearcat" products it's built to last!
put it on your desk, or take it with you on the road..this gadget will give you tons of entertainment, you won't take law enforcment or rescue teams for granted again!
Customer Review: Bearcat Tracker Summary: 5 Stars
I had decided to get a new scanner, my old one was 10 yrs old. I did a lot of research on
the internet, read a lot of reviews, and checked prices. I decided on the TrunkTracker II,
mainly for the size and features. Went to local truck stop and saw the rig, liked the size
and all, but price was too high, and plus tax.
I ordered mine from Amazon, received it in about 3 -4 days, hooked it up and using the
short whip antenna, I pick up stations 30 to 40 miles away. LOVE it, and going to install
it in my pickup when weather get better. BEST BUY FOR THE MONEY AND AMAZON HAS BEST PRICE.
BTW...If you purchase the software for programming with the computer, be aware, your computer must
have a RS-232 port ( not many have this feature any more)...

Customer Review: Best mobile/base scanner if you don't need CTCSS/DCS and Alpha Tagging Summary: 5 Stars
This scanner has the best auduio quality I have ever heard and it is made very well. The entire keypad lights up too. The only thing that would of made this better is the CTCSS/DCS feature which I have mentioned to Paul Optiz-product designer at Uniden. It has 250 channels to program, much easier then the newer units like the BCT15,and BCD996 that use a different programing method. The sensitivity is good, however VHF Low band could be better. I live here in a apartment and can't put a roof antenna up so I am using the stock antenna. It should be noted that I am a volunteer firefighter here in Westchester County and have had scanners since 1974. To sum it up, buy this unit over the BC350C which is not as good plus Westchester County, NY has just started trunking as of 9/10/07.
