Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Uniden BC72XLT Handheld Scanner (Black)Customer Review: Easy, Addicting, Exciting, Surprising! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this scanner to use at the Bristol Night race in August 2006. I fully expected this unit to do well as a race scanner, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it is a tiny powerhouse of excitement! I turned it on and easily scanned right into the local police bands and immediately got into some action! Then I scanned the "air" frequencies, and got some air chatter from a small "shuttle" plane coming into Tri Cities Regional Airport.
I thought I would only use this twice a year at the track...little did I know I would find a new hobby.
Forget these people that say it's hard to figure out. I was up and running in 5 minutes tops. It's a BREEZE and is very intuitive. 5 stars all the way!
Customer Review: very good scanner Summary: 5 Stars
This unit is a solid little performer. I have a couple of other scanners that are older including the venerable BC200xlt which still performs well to this day. However I am impressed with the 72XLT's ability to scan quickly and the Close Call feature really makes this radio a joy to use to easily find frequencies, which my older scanners lack. Even with a Radio Shack stubby antenna, I have picked up alot of talk. The unit seems solidly built and the audio is pretty decent. For the price, its darn hard to beat. This unit wont get the modern digital trunk systems but it still gets enough traffic like the local 2M/440 ham operators. NOAA Weather station comes in real good. Small size makes it easy to carry too.
Customer Review: Tiny Scanner, But BIG on Features! Summary: 5 Stars
This scanner is about as great as they come for its size!
Bearcat has a solid reputation and has been around a long while.
Its loaded with features crammed into a tiny box no bigger than your cell phone and fits well in your shirt pocket.
What I like about it is that it goes anywhere, uses only 2AA batteries, and works a good long time before the juice runs out.
It also comes with an AC adapter that seems to even help boost the signal somewhat.
The reception is very good with its slap on antenna, and 100 channels, 25mhz on up to 512UHF, is more than enough for those most popular and famous citizens band radio, police and emergency frequencies.
You better get one!
Customer Review: Very good little radio Summary: 5 Stars
This little radio was easy to program, and lock out any channels you don't want at the time. Picks up very well, to be so little.
The only downside it has, is that it don't pick up as well, in a car if it is moving. As long as it it is sitting still, picks up well.
With the vehicle moving, it might could use an external antenna for your vehicle.
All in all, it is a very good little radio though. Glad I bought it. Picks up better than a bigger one I have in the the house, and programs well.
I still gave it 5 stars because I didn't expect it would pick up as well in a vehicle, without some sort of external antenna.
I would still recommend it. I just love it!
Customer Review: scanner Summary: 5 Stars
I like this scanner alot. My previous scanner was a 10 channel scanner that you programmed to a particual frequency. That's fine, but I like to take it with me boat watching and being limited to 10 channels is a pain. I like the search feature on this scanner because it grabs channels without having to be programmed to the scanner. The neat thing is that it allows you to save a found channel to a bank of channels and will continue to monitor it. When I boat watch, I block out the police, fire, and rescue, and leave it on search. This way I don't miss a thing. I also like this scanner because it is half the size of my old one.
