As someone who owns a couple of vintage ELECTRA Bearcat scanners (The ones made in US, not China as they are today) I was looking for a scanner that was also a clock radio. As a scanner, it does everything it should for analog scanning and has SAME weather alert which works well. I would not recommend this radio for long term AM/FM listening as the sound is a little tinny.(On the other side of my bed, I have a GE Superadio for that) I love laying in bed on Friday nights and listening to the cops nail the drunks for DWI in my area !Customer Review: good scanner;good value

The included info about where to find local frequencies was a plus. The reception is a minimum of "3 Bars" better than my handheld.[a plus in rural WI.]I did not want the clock. I am very glad it come with it. The snyc w/ the atomic clock and battery back-up are great features. I like the weather alert feature.[heavy snow, severe T-storms and Tornadoes are normal here]I would buy this again.Customer Review: Well it works

It is not bad, but there must be a bit better. My biggest gripe is you can not see the display unless you are right on top of the unit. There was no trouble setting it up. I actually get very good reception.
There is only one alarm so be forewarned that this may not replace your clock radio. Still I like it.

Everything perfect except display contrast...Cannot see at nite w/o being 6" from display...A pity, because this would make the scanner a perfect '10'.
